Employee Retention Procedures by the Human Resource

Employee Retention is the ability of the organization to retain their employees.  It is both a strategy, as well as, an outcome.  The employees with top performance or high performance should be retained by the organizations to improve and develop their working atmosphere. Thus, there is a need to differentiate between a top performance and poor performance employee. A goal of an organization must be to decrease the employee turnover rate. This in turn will reduce the training cost, recruiting cost and loss of talent or organizational knowledge.

There is various retention programs put forward by the U.S department of Labor. The process of retaining the top talented employees is very much needed for the benefit of the organization.

Recruitment and hiring, training and development, performance evaluation, performing a career development opportunities and a chance to grow in their chosen field, maintaining a regular feedback on how both employees and the company are doing, preparing a flexible work schedules that recognize their need for work balance within a company, providing a good salary or wage and a building an opportunity to increase the over time wage, providing benefits based on individual needs are some of them.

The various tools used for the retention programs include employee surveys, exit interviews and employee retention consultants.

The organization at Ohio has adopted various programs to retain their employees who bring out a fruitful result for their companies. They also outsource human resource to help the organization regarding the process of retaining. The companies spent a lot of money in outsourcing the human resource who are professional expert in this field. The Human Resource team plays an important role to conduct the retention process, this involves:

Ø  It is the responsibility of HR to investigate immediately to find out the reasons which instigate the employee to resign.

Ø  It is the duty of HR to sit with the employee and discuss the various issues regarding the problem he or she is facing as an employee.

Ø  The HR person must give such assurance that he is recruiting the right employee who actually fits into the role or job profile.

Ø  The human resource department must conduct motivational programs at the workplace. 

Ø  HR must arrange for various incentive schemes for the top performers to motivate them.

HR along with the team leaders of the project must monitor their team member’s performance to ensure whether they are enjoying the work or not or any special benefits need to be added for them.
