by Loss Prevention Systems Reducing Losses, Increasing Profits
Growing thefts, shoplifting and unethical practices by employees across several retail stores have prompted the business owners to conduct background checks as a part of the pre-employment screening process. This background checks has to be done by firms and consultants who have extensive experience in conducting such process to ensure that you get only the best employees. This process involves checking a potential employee’s background and verifying their previous work and criminal history.

Innovative Security Systems

More and more business owners are showing interest in installing the best security systems in their stores to prevent shoplifting and other unlawful activities. Since it is not possible for employees to keep an eye on every customer that enters and exits the store, business owners count on technology to do the task. Merchandise these days is equipped with Alpha Cable Locks to prevent shoplifters from taking it out of the store. These locks can be fixed in a variety of stocks including apparels, footwear, accessories, electronics and several other products.

Working of Locks

The Alpha Cable Locks fixed temporarily in the merchandise will trigger an alarm when it passes the EAS towers that are installed in the entry or exit doors. The Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) usually contains three elements namely electronic antenna, electronic tag and a deactivator or a detacher. Special tags, locks or labels are fixed to the merchandise and are deactivated when the cashier rings it up by passing it under a deactivation pad. Locks are removed using a detacher when the customer pays for it. If a person tries to tamper with the lock or get the merchandise out of the store, the alarm goes off alerting the employees.

Installation of EAS

Though the Electronic Article Surveillance is not the ultimate solution for shoplifting, it plays a major part in preventing store owners from losing revenue. When shoplifters know that an EAS system is installed, it will instil fear in them and they will think twice before stealing stuff. Find a reputed firm that can install the EAS for you. Get a thorough understanding of how it works to get the full benefit. In addition to the surveillance system, installing CCTV cameras at high and low traffic places will also help you identify criminals. It is also important to train your employees to be alert and cautious at all times.
