On graduating from high school, there are several students who think of pursuing engineering for their graduation and higher studies. Some of the electrical engineering courses which students take up after their Bachelors Degree in Engineering are Master of Science programs and research programs. Some of the research areas include Division of Circuits and Systems, Division of Control and Instrumentation, Division of Communication Engineering, Division of Microelectronics, etc.

Electrical engineers are always in demand all over the globe. Such engineers can easily work in verticals such as atomic power stations, railways, thermal power stations, civil aviation companies, and the like. Given below are few of the most prominent benefits of studying electrical engineering:

·             You can travel a lot: If you are an electrical engineer, well you can easily qualify for a vast range of opportunities. There are hundreds of multi-national firms which recruit electrical engineers, and most of these MNCs require engineers from different countries too.

·             Students can continue intern-ship programmes before working full time: There are many companies which offer intern-ship programmes to electrical engineering students. This gives them an exposure to on-job work experience. This way, students get hands-on training, they understand work pressure and they get an idea on what are the ways of tackling such pressure. And those who can prove their mettle during their intern-ship programmes, they usually qualify for the job and companies absorb them directly.

·             You can get bountiful knowledge: Students get bountiful knowledge while pursuing their electrical engineering course. Be it programming or writing reports, electrical engineers are usually bestowed with the responsibility of doing all of these.

·             New challenge everyday: Each day is a new challenge. Everyday, a new electrical device or a product is invented. So, chances are that electrical engineers will never be bored with their work. These engineers might have to deal with varied and new electrical components daily. They might be required to do testing too. Such diverse category of activities keep them busy and engaged throughout the day.

Interestingly, electrical engineers can also take up electrical and electronic engineering research work to reach greater and newer heights.

Some of these research topics are:

·             Internet of Things (IoT): These days, the interconnected sensing, that is letting people share information across various platforms with the help of a unified framework, is changing sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, social interaction, logistics, and more. Students, who are willing to do a further analysis on such topics, can take up IoT for higher studies.

·             Autonomous Systems: We all know that there is sufficient resource in the deep ocean, for example, gold, zinc, manganese, lead, copper, oxides, and more. Here, I must add that it is extremely important for students to understand the significance of deep ocean technology. Those who are really interested can take up this research program for higher studies.

Taking up a research work can be a challenging and rewarding experience for students. It can help students pursue a detailed study of their selected subject. If you are keen to pursue such a research program, you can go ahead and opt for a good research study which will be beneficial, both for people and communities.
