Electric Gate Repairs made Easy

Having an Electric Gate that isn’t functioning well can be a real inconvenience. Electric Gate Repair can cost quite a lot of money and finding someone good to take care of it can be hard. However with a little elbow grease we could fix the gate ourselves by first understanding exactly how it works. To do the repair yourself begin by learning how it functions and when you’ve fully comprehended the use of each part, follow these few steps to have the Electric Gate up and running as normal.

Inspect if the Gate is receiving Electricity

The main thing to first check is whether the Electric gate is properly receiving power. If you’ve got any particular peripheral equipment installed, inspect if it is working as it should. If it’s the electricity supply that is causing the gate to malfunction, it might be necessary to change the equipment. In some cases checking the mains and wiring might be required as well.

Check the Motor

If everything is working as it should but the Electric Gate still keeps malfunctioning, it’s wise to check if the gate’s motors are working properly. Whether it’s a swing gate or roll gate, if there’s a problem with the motor the gate won’t work as it should.

Check Gate Transmitter

When you notice an irregularity with your electric gate, check the batteries on the transmitter as sometimes that could be the problem. The transmitter generally indicates with a light if it’s working properly or not. But in the instance of the batteries running out of power, they will need to be changed, which anyone can do.

Examine the Gate thoroughly

Sometimes the gate starts playing up when the path is obstructed. If you notice that the gate isn’t opening and closing as it normally would, look for anything that might be blocking the path. If you hear any clicking sounds, that indicates a technical issue in the case of a roller gate. But if it’s a sliding gate simply remove the obstruction.

Wood Vs. Metal Electric Gates

The type of material the gate is made out of can affect the repair as well. If the gate is made out of wood it can wear out easily as it absorbs more moisture causing it to decay quicker. And when it comes to metal gates most of the issues stem from malfunctioning parts. Keep in mind that Electric gates made out of wood are cheaper, whereas metal gates last longer and can be repaired easily.
