Easy Ways To Save Money While Using Hot Tubs

by Westview Manufacturing Quality Made Spa Gazebos and Outdoor Buildings Sin

Using a hot tub for very long periods of time can turn out to be very expensive. This is especially true during the winter season when you will likely to try to use the hot tub gazebo as much as you can. However, you can keep the operating costs of the hot tub and gazebo under control by following a few simple tips mentioned below.

Hot Tub Cover

Take a look at the cover of your hot tub. Does it weigh too much and is water laden? If so, then that indicates that the cover is not very efficient. In all probability, heat is escaping through the cover at a rapid rate. And because of this, energy is being continuously consumed by the hot tub. So, replace your existing cover with a new one which is capable of retaining the heat of the tub.

Dial Down The Temperature

People usually tend to run their hot tubs at temperatures ranging between 38 and 40 degree Celsius. While this has the advantage of ensuring that the hot tub is always ready when required, the downside is that you will end up using a lot of energy for this, especially if the weather is cold. To solve this problem, dial down the temperature by a few degrees. This will lessen the energy consumption and the bills.

Clean Filters

When the filter in the hot tub gets dirty and clogged, the water flow will be negatively affected. As a result, the filtration will have to put in double the effort in order to keep the tub clean. This will obviously draw much more energy and contribute to a higher operational cost. To avoid this scenario, make sure that you always rinse the filter at least once every week. You can use an instant filter cleaner or an overnight cleaner for the purpose. This will keep the filter clean at all times, ensuring smoother water flow, less energy consumption, and lower bills. If possible, try to get a spare filter when buying hot tub enclosure kits as you can rotate with the existing filter during the cleaning process.

Air Jets

Many people set up air jets in the hot tub. And if you have them in the tub, then you should know that the air jets also bring in cold air with them. This can cause the water temperature to drop. As a result, the tub has to keep working continuously in order to maintain the warmth of the water. This obviously means higher energy utilization. So, until and unless you are absolutely certain that you need air jets, it is advisable that you don’t use them at all.

Block Wind

When your hot tub is operational, there is a good chance that wind might pass over it. This will cool down and evaporate the water in the tub. As such, you will be forced to add in more water and reheat it to keep the tub hot. This will drive up the energy bill. So, remember to use a windbreak around the hot tub so as to stop the winds from cooling down the water.
