Ease off the Irritated Gums Problem in Babies

by Nicole Morgen JORDEN

Teething is one of the major steps in the growth of the child. In this process, the teeth of the baby will start growing one by one. First will be the lower incisor and then so on, one by one each of them will grow simultaneously. In the initial phase, it can be quite harsh for the gentle gums of the baby. During the process of teeth eruption, the gums get irritated easily. This happens once the baby reaches the age of five-six months. The teeth while growing tries to make a proper way therefore the adult teeth can also grow after it. Hence, the process is quite painful and irritating for the baby. They will start showing signs of teething which the parents have to understand and try to ease off it.

The baby will start bight and drooling a lot. You can even see him biting on your necklace or your fingers whenever you hold him. Whatever comes in the hand goes straight to the mouth. This phase can be difficult for the baby as well as the parents, he cannot convey his pain caused due to irritated gums to you therefore he starts crying, and fussing over things. The tooth is pushing the gums from beneath, hurting the gentle gums. You can ease it off a little by using the teething rings. In case your baby has reached the age of four months and has started fussing suddenly, this is the time the teeth has started the growing preparation. Teething rings are soft and firm playthings, which are made from material safe for the baby. They support the gums; help the kid to chew as much as he can without harming the gums and reducing the pain.

There is one more thing that can help in easing off the irritation in the gums and that is the regular massage from baby toothbrush and finger brush. After every meal, you must brush the baby teeth gently in round strokes using the special baby tooth brush. This brush has soft bristles, which are perfect to clean the baby teeth while massaging them. You can do it 3-4 times a day for one or two minutes. It will help the teeth to grow properly without putting much pressure on the gums or hurting the baby. You can also use your fingers to massage the gums gently. Choose the baby tooth brush and the teething rings carefully. They should be free from harmful content.
