Dry Skin? You Might Just Have Psoriasis

by Will D. Business Owner
This article contains a lot of information on the symptoms, treatment, and characteristics of psoriasis.Psoriasis is a long-term skin problem that causes skin cells to develop too rapidly, producing thick, white, silvery, or red-colored areas of skin.

Generally, skin cells grow slowly and fall off about every 4 weeks. Fresh skin cells grow to replace the outside layers of the skin as they shed.

But in psoriasis, brand new skin cells shift quickly to the surface of the skin in days instead of weeks. They build up and create thick areas of skin referred to as plaques. The areas range in size from small to large. They usually appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, hands, feet, or lower back. Psoriasis is most common in adults. But children and teens can get it also.

Having psoriasis can be embarrassing, and lots of people, particularly teens, avoid swimming as well as other scenarios where patches can show. There are many kinds of treatment that can help keep psoriasis in check.
