When it comes to carrying passengers and cargo, the kind of cars we think about are buses, minivans, and minibusses like the Toyota Hiace. Toyota Hiace offers comfortability, space, great features, and efficiency but also an excellent performance that we all want in a car. Now, let us take a look at this car in terms of features, capabilities, qualities, affordability, and engines before we consider buying a Toyota Hiace.

History

The first generation of Toyota Hiace was released in October 1967. Toyota Hiace has passed six generations up to the present. The first generation was produced from 1967–1977, second-generation from 1977-1982, third-generation from 1982-1989, fourth-generation from 1989-2004, fifth-generation from 2004-2019, and latest-generation from 2019 to present. The shape and body of the Toyota Hiace have changed in every generation and have a pretty shape due to the advancement of technology and materials.

Toyota Hiace has three main objectives like carrying passengers, carrying luggage, and for hospital use (ambulance). Toyota Hiace is available in automatic and manual transmissions with 3 variants – Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB), Commuter, and Long Wheelbase (LWB). And three body options – Hiace Wagon, Hiace Van, and Hiace Commuter with the option of Petrol or Diesel fuel.

Interior & Exterior

The Toyota Hiace has more than 10 people sitting comfortably which provides all the space you need. There’s a big cargo space, sliding doors, and side steps with the front, both the passenger and driver are afforded slightly comfortable quarters. The seats can be uncomfortable at long distances due to the minimum adjacent movement.

Several storage booths at the front are useful for storing items such as beverages, smartphones, goggles, and handbags. There is a door panel storage, a 2-compartment glove box, a center box, and 4 cup holders. In other models, you will get extra Navigation, AUX Power, a DVD Player, and a Cooler Box.

Engine

Most Hiace models use a four-cylinder DOHC engine in a variety of forms: a 2KD-FTV 2500 cc or 1KD-FTV 3,000 cc D-4D turbo-diesel engine or a 1TR-FE 2000 cc or 2TR-FE 2700 cc petrol engine. In some general export markets, Hiace is equipped with the 1TR – 1990 cc, 1RZ – 1990 cc, and 2RZ – 2430 cc. And the most chosen one is the 5L-E 3000 cc diesel engine.

The 5th generation Hiace has a long-wheelbase van, a wide super-long-wheelbase high-roof van, a wide long-wheelbase wagon, a wide super-long-wheelbase high-roof “Grand Cabin”, and a long-wheelbase high-roof van. The 6th generation of Toyota Hiace comes fitted with 2 engine options: a 2.8L 1GD-FTV I4 turbocharged diesel engine linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission generating a power output of 149 hp at 3600 rpm and 300 Nm of torque from 1000 to 3400 RPM. Or a naturally aspirated 3.5L 7GR-FKS V6 petrol engine. The 5L-E engine develops 91 hp at 4000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 2400 RPM.

Security

Some Hiace models have several safety features like ABS, SRS Airbags, WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening), Rearview Camera, and Retractable steering on impact. The latest generation of Toyota Hiace offers SRS airbags; an anti-lock brake system and some of the versions have reverse sensors.

Generally

Most of the Hiace’s are being used as commercial vehicles to carry passengers or cargo.
