Drive Safe and Smart with Suzuki Swift 2022

by Masashi S. JDM Enthusiast

The Suzuki Swift is a subcompact hatchback produced in 2004 by Suzuki and is now in its third generation. The latest facelift was received in 2020 with some changes to the radiator grille, alloy rims, and added colors. Now, we will talk about the 5 pros and 5 cons of the 2022 Suzuki Swift for would-be buyers.

5 Pros

Stable Handling

The 2022 Swift has impressive handling at high speeds and can take corners with ease, due to the car’s balance and well-distributed power-to-weight. The ride quality is more than acceptable and the steering wheel is remarkable for its lightness and quick response, with overall accuracy and weight of the car.

Impressive Reliability

The 2022 Swift build quality is first-rate and also looks durable. The same applies to the switchgear and control buttons which look and feel as if they are built to last. The Swift is fitted with Suzuki engines, transmissions, and AllGrip all-wheel-drive system which is known to be durable, efficient, and reliable.

Well-furnished Cabin

The 2022 Swift cabin comes with premium amenities that include touchscreen infotainment, Bluetooth, LED DRLs, an electromagnetic tailgate opener, and more. Added with some high-tech safety systems such as brake assist, engine immobilizer, and a lightweight impact-absorbing monocoque body.

Good Safety Rating

The 2022 Suzuki Swift has a five-star safety rating as rated by ANCAP based on a test conducted in 2017. It received 14.39 out of 16 points for the frontal offset test, 15.74 out of 16 points in the side impact test, and in the pole test 2 out of 2. Its overall score was 35.13 out of 37. Passive safety features include front, front-side, and curtain airbags. Active safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive cruise control, Blind-spot monitoring, Lane departure warning, Rear parking sensors, and Rear cross-traffic alert.

Amazing Exterior

The 2022 Swift exterior includes a new front fascia with a broad hexagonal grille along with a striking bumper, LED headlights, and an enclosed windshield. On the sides, it has curvy and bulgy European-inspired blacked-out pillars with ‘Kei’ touches. At the rear, it features a large bumper, unique LED tail lights, and a snazzy spoiler.

5 Cons

Noisy Cabin

The 2022 Suzuki Swift is very quiet, but when traveling at more than 80 km/hr it produced a little noise that manage to get into the cabin. Suzuki indeed has to improve cabin insulation for its future releases.

Cramped Boot Space

The 2022 Swift has a 265-liter boot with an adjustable trunk floor that provides a maximum sill height of 723 mm, but its 242 mm leap can make loading and unloading quite difficult.

Ride Quality

The 2022 Swift comes with toughened suspensions with noble handling, but this trades off the ride quality slightly. Naturally, you’ll have to experience it yourself to feel if the ride is up to your liking or not, for every driver has a different taste.

Looks Cheap Interior

The cabin of the 2022 Swift is solidly made, but the materials look a bit cheap and not that stylish. It looks unattractive, hard, and shiny with hard plastics all over the car’s interior. Though it is functional and it will remain intact for years.

Average Infotainment

The 2022 Swift comes with a well-featured infotainment system, but the display is tiny and a bit sluggish, even heavy in its response. It resembles those of the Eighties gaming consoles compared with the slick systems found on rival cars. But the system offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard that you can link your phone with the car’s infotainment system, and the screen mirrors your phone.

Finally

Suzuki has been manufacturing cars with great reliability and this credibility rating comes as a result of producing the Suzuki Swift which has a lot going for it.
