Double Block, Bleed and Globe Valves Working

by John Peter Discussion Point

API 6D defines a double block and bleed valve as "a single valve with two seating surfaces that provide pressure sealing at both ends of the valve, in a closed position with a socket or between the seating surfaces. Bleeding is moderate."

There are two versions of the double block and the breather valve. The style consists of two independent seat valves with a drain or drain valve. This configuration is known as double insulation and dilution (DIB). The DIB valve can separate both sides of the ventilation opening (two-way) from the ventilation opening or empty and separate the pipes.

Double block valves and exhaust valves

This matt wall-style ball valve provides double locking and venting in one valve. This style can separate the ducts on both sides of the valve (unidirectional), causing ventilation / bleeding between the seats in the valve cavity.

Using a mono block system and drain valves in 3 different valves saves installation time and weight in the piping system and location. It also reduces the number of leaks into the atmosphere, which reduces the risk of transporting liquids that are hazardous to humans or the environment. So try to find the best double block and bleed valve manufacturers.

Which applications require double valves and venting?

Double units and bleed valves are commonly used in the oil and gas industry, but can also be useful in many other industries.

It is most commonly used when the valve lumen needs to be emptied, when the pipes need insulation for maintenance, or for any of the following other scenarios:

  •          Prevent contamination of the product
  •          Remove the equipment from the service for cleaning or repair
  •          Meter calibration
  •          Liquid service near waterways or municipalities
  •          Transportation and storage
  •          Chemical injection and sampling
  •          Isolation of equipment such as pressure indicators and lever gauges
  •          Primary steam process

What to look for when choosing a double block and vent valve?

As with any valve, the properties, pressure and temperature of the fluid must be taken into account during selection. Perhaps the most important thing is to use a valve. Using the many configurations offered, consider which one best suits your process and needs.

If you are not sure which double shut-off and bleed valve is right for you, consult your engineer. They can help determine who will achieve your goals.

Globe Valve

Choosing the right valve is important because different types have different properties and applications. Some have only two stages: open or closed. Others allow you to regulate fluid flow and pressure. Different valves also cause different pressure losses. Depending on the situation, special functions are required.

One of the most common types of valves is globe valves. In this article, we explain how valve valves work, including their advantages and disadvantages. We then look at the different sizes of globe valves and compare them with other types of devices such as valve valves and ball valves.

What is a globe valve and how does it work?

To determine if a ball valve is right for your use, consider its three main features. First, they are side-acting valves, which means that they open or close depending on the up and down movement of the feet. Second, it prevents fluid flow, stops or suffocates. Some valves have only open and closed positions, but globe valves can restrict flow without closing completely from globe valve manufacturers. Third, it causes more head loss than other valves, and is a trade-off for throttle services.
