DO EMPLOYERS CARE ABOUT EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?

by James William Writer

INCEPTION:

IF employers do not care about educational background then people won’t be spending a huge amount of time and money on getting a certain degree. Instead, they would be doing some job and gaining an experience along with earning. This might happen if all the dream jobs put real-world experience on the priority list and overlook the educational background.

So, in spite of the fact that holding a degree is not a certificate that employees are going to perform the best, many businesses still foresee the job seekers to be holding a degree. This situation sometimes tempts the employees to lie about their degrees. This discussion will be helpful in assisting a person with the idea that whether he should adorn his resume with educational background, real or fake, or not. This study was conducted to identify the competencies of designers from the employers' point of view. (James D. Klein Ph.D., 2018)

1. WHY DO EMPLOYERS CHECK EDUCATION?

Those employers, who consider the educational background while hiring an employee, do so to authenticate whether the person is eligible, degree-wise, for the job or not. Others do so for legal purposes.

But the major reason for doing so is to check the truthfulness of an employee as this is crucial for the benefit of the company in long run. Those who are fraudulent at this initial step would be of no worth later for the company. One can buy essays regarding the reasons for which employers check the educational background of employees to make it clearer.

- EXAMPLE:

It is in fact necessary to check the educational background in certain fields. In case of the absence of education, the employee would not be able to perform his duties well. If a doctor is applying for a job in some hospital. He must have an educational background because of the intricate issues attached to it. Moreover, he cannot pass further exams necessary to conduct during their professional life.

2. REPERCUSSIONS OF FAKE EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

If an employee puts a fake educational background within their resume. It affects his trustworthiness and honesty in the first place. But it might also result in termination of his job if he has been hired earlier. If he was captured lying during the conduct of the application process he may end up losing the job offer. Though technically it is not illegal to lie on a resume because it is not a legal document so no prosecution can be carried out against the employee lying about the education. A resume is not just a method of conveying a message, but it is also considered to be an art. (pes-admin, 2020)

But is not it enough to terminate a person from a certain job? So employees must consider the fact that educational background-related information can be busted soon if lied, as some companies put it in high esteem. Mere temptation from a huge paycheck must not be enough to lure an employee into a fake posing of educational background. So it is easy to fight off the urge at the initial steps rather than regretting it the whole life.

3. EMPLOYERS' KNOWLEDGE OF LEGIT SCHOOLS AND DIPLOMA MILLS:

Those employers who have a regard for educational background can easily differentiate between a diploma mill and an accredited university. Those who don’t want to put hard work into this strive of getting an authenticated degree, simply resort to these phony schools. These schools are so sophisticated that they try their best not to be caught in legitimate eyes. These slothful persons if have gotten somehow into the admissible process of completing a degree, end up resorting to other helping services available online to ask them to write my essay for me UK based.

4. CERTAIN LOOPHOLES REGARDING ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS:

Employers usually check the recognition of an institution by an accredited body. However, there are certain loopholes regarding accredited institutions' authentication. This happens when those accredited schools do not post any detail on the internet or do not have their own website. This will be taken by employers as a red flag heralding danger ahead.

Secondly, some diploma mills are so disposed as to look tenable. They even go to the extent of duplicating the legit course of action. They have their registrars who pose the legitimacy of a diploma issued by that diploma mill. Due to these two weaknesses, it is sometimes difficult for employers to check the legitimacy of an educational document.

5. WORTH OF AN EDUCATIONAL DEGREE:

Getting an educational degree is backed by a huge amount of money and time. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put forth certain benefits of getting an educational degree.

According to its research report, people who have a bachelor’s degree are less unemployed than those who don’t have a degree in academics. Moreover, it also claims that those with a degree are also earning more as compared to those who are pursuing some profession carrying a high school diploma. Employers are also ready to pay more to those having an educational background as compared to those without one.

6. CONFLICT PERSPECTIVE:

In view of all the facts mentioned above, some organizations are shifting these stereotypic norms. They have a view that the capability of a person to do work is enough to foresee his potential. Many leading companies are positioned with this conflict perspective such as Google, Tesla, Netflix, IBM, Apple, and Bank of America. The employees there, are obviously getting high paid.

In this digital world, people offer their services as virtual assistants, online advertising roles, payroll clerks, and customer service representatives. And it is more often that the employers hardly ask for a four-year degree background, especially in these mentioned jobs.

- POTENTIAL IS VALUED:

The above-mentioned companies value the potential of an individual rather than his educational background. A great chunk of the recruiters hires employees keeping in view this perspective. They don’t mean potential as an ability of a person to perform the assigned task rather it is an ability to keep growing and working even beyond the task assigned to him. This is how these employees can add worth to the overall output of the company.

CONCLUSION:

There are two facets of employers’ views regarding the educational background of an employee. Both are supported by their own inherent potential. So it is imperative to understand them in their core meaning.
