Do and Don't on Business Travel

Fast-growing economies like India, China, or Brazil continue to
attract more and more businesses from all over the world. Some of these
businesses are trying to target customers based in a faraway region, while
others are looking to find a low-cost supplier or a company to outsource some
of their work.
Even though the
technologies like video conferencing and the Internet allows us to communicate
quite efficiently, it still isn’t always possible to finalize important
business deals over the Internet or telephone. Don’t forget that many companies
have offices and clients in different regions and if you are working in one of
these companies, you’ll have to travel every once in a while. If you are one of
those people who need to make business trips on a frequent basis, following Dos
and Don’ts can help you save big on your business traveling.
Dos
-Plan your trip
wisely. When you are traveling to a faraway region, try to make the most of
that trip by meeting different businesses and clients in one single trip, even
if it requires you to extend your stay for some days.
- If you travel on
frequent basis, you must make the most of loyalty programs offered by different
airlines and hotels. You will be able to save quite big, and you will be
getting premium services as well.
- Business travel
expenses are usually deductible from your tax returns, including fare, lodging
and meals; however, you will have to consult your local tax laws to be sure of
the allowable expenses.
- Another good thing
about business traveling is that you can be a little flexible with your travel
dates, which means you can plan your trip during off-peak days and avoid paying
high rates. Remember that flights and hotel rates will be quite high on the
weekends or during holiday season.
- If you’ve got
friends or family living in the region you’ll be visiting, get in touch and ask
for their advice while sharing your plans.
- If you have extra
time after finishing the meeting, you should visit famous places of the city in
extra time. Like in India filled with lots of historical monument and tourist
place. In New Delhi, you can visit many tourist places. Delhi Zoological park
is a famous place to visit and check the Timing of Zoo before making any
plan.
Don’t’s
- Just because
you’re on a business trip, you don’t need to stay in the most luxurious hotel
in the city and dine at the most expensive restaurants.
- If possible, make
use of a comparatively cheaper mode of transports like trains or busses.
There’s no need to take a plane, even when you are traveling to a nearby city
or a country where you can take an inexpensive mode of traveling as well.
- Similarly, you don’t
really need to rent luxury cars; instead you can use public transport to go
from one place to another.
- When traveling to a
totally new region, don’t trust everything you read on Internet. As earlier
suggested, you should get in touch with a friend or family member who’s living
in that region and ask for their advice.
- Try to avoid going
to shopping malls and markets, unless you need something specific. Once you’re
in the mall, it’s easy to get carried away and buy something without really
needing it.
