A Look at the History of DKNY

 

Donna Karan established Donna Karan New York or DKNY in 1984. Before starting her own brand DKNY with her husband Stephan Weiss, Karan worked for Anne Klein for over fifteen years, out of which she spent ten years as the chief designer.

 

In 1984, Karan and her deceased husband Stephan Weiss had a chance to start their own company through Takihyo LLC. The parent company of Anne Klein. Today G-III Apparel owns the company’s apparel brand. Estee Lauder Companies owns the rights to sell and distribute DKNY’s line of cosmetics and fragrances. Both parent companies call New York their home.

Just as the DKNY clothing brand, Donna Karan wanted to introduce fragrances for women that incorporates strength and elegance of being a woman.
