DIY Cleaning Products for Your Car
by Novus AutoGlass Novus Auto GlassCleaning is a critical component of
car maintenance. You should clean both the exterior and the interior of your
car at least twice a month. There are various cleaning products available in
the market that can be used for this purpose. While they can make it easy for
you to clean your car, they can cost you a great deal of money too. DIY
cleaning products can be a good alternative. They can clean the car just as
effectively and won’t even cost you that much. Here is a look at some DIY
cleaning products for the different parts of your car.
Vinegar
Vinegar is considered an excellent
cleaning agent. It can be used for washing the windscreen and car windows as well as the car’s
upholstery. The trick to keep in mind is the ratio of vinegar to water that you
need to create the perfect cleaning solution. A ratio of 1 to 3 is ideal for
cleaning stains on the windscreen and the windows. Fill this solution
in a spray bottle and spray it leisurely on the stains. Let it sit there for a
while before wiping it clean with an old newspaper. It will remove the stains
completely, leaving the windshield and windows stain-free.
Baking Soda
Baking soda can also be used as a
DIY cleaner for your car. It is a great deodorizer and can be used for getting
rid of the smell from the floor mats of the car. Just sprinkle some of it on
the floor mats to deodorize them. You can easily remove the baking soda by
using a car vacuum. Baking soda can also be used for cleaning seat belts.
However, this would require you to create a paste by adding a little water to
the baking soda. This paste needs to be applied to the seat belts gently and
then rinsed off.
Liquid Castile Soap
Car
washes can cost you a lot of money and so does car wash soap. An affordable
alternative for washing your car is liquid castile soap. It is a powerful
cleaner that can wipe away the dirt and grime clinging to your car. All you have
to do is to add a few drops of liquid castile soap into a bucket of water and
you have yourself an inexpensive car wash soap. As it is made from plant oils,
liquid castile soap won’t harm the car’s paint.
Toothpaste
Toothpaste is usually associated with
brushing teeth. What most people don’t realise is that it isn’t only beneficial
for oral health. You can use it for cleaning the headlights of your car. If you
find the headlights to be getting dimmer by the day, toothpaste can be used to
brighten them up. Apply it on the clear plastic casing of the headlights. Use a
brush to scrub the toothpaste and clear away the dirt that is causing the
dimness. Do remember to wipe away the excess to prevent clouding the
headlights.
