Delhi, the capital of the country, is the most significant city, not just in terms of administration, but also in terms of education, businesses, industries, tourism. It is one of the fastest growing cities of the world and is leading world's top cities. With a firm grip on the areas of art, culture, entertainment, fashion, and media the city is proving itself as one prime centre of tourism in the whole country. Although, one can visit the city at anytime of the year, but the most ideal time to visit the city is between September to November and February to March. • Qutub Minar - located inside Qutub Complex which is one of the most historically significant places in the nation is Qutub Minar. It is among the most famous structure on the ground, and was the world's tallest skyscraper when it was built, during 1193-1368 on the orders of Qutb-ud-din Aybak. It is a remarkable structure with several beautiful wall engraved designs and is very well-preserved. It is still an awe-inspiring sight which instantly pulls attractions.

• Jama Masjid - this is one place in Delhi that a tourist simply can't afford to miss. Situated next to Chandni Chowk and opposite to Red Fort (two prime icons of the country), Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in the country and a must see. There's no entry fee unless you have a camera with you. It opens from 7AM to sunset. However, it is not advised to take pictures during pray hours.

• National Zoological Park - located at the Mathura Road is the National Zoological Park, which is home to several wild animals and rare birds, and is dedicated to preserving the rich biodiversity of the country. It is a very large park and is the only chance for the visitors to see elephants and white tigers.

• Purana Qila - it is an important part of Delhi sightseeing and the tour of the city is simply incomplete without visiting this place. It is the oldest among all the forts in the city and oldest known structure of any type, in Delhi. Located in the legendary site of Indraprastha, some even consider this place as the first city of Delhi. Besides the fort there are several monuments lying around the complex, which are also good options to visit.

• Red Fort – it is a brilliant fort built of red sandstone on the orders of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as his presiding palace. Although there were some years when the fort was not treated well, which ruined the marble inlays and some other parts, still the fort stands tall and is the representation of country’s history. Also, the government has stepped-up and is taking all precautions to preserve his place. The fort covers a very big area and still remains imposing. Every August 15^th the country’s prime minister address the nation from this very place. • Humayun's Tomb – located in South Delhi, near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station is the tomb of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun. It is a remarkably beautiful building built in the Persian Char Bhag style. Humayun’s tomb is the centerpiece of this place. It is one of the oldest structures that the country has. Tourists visiting this place also visit Barber’s tomb, which is located southeast of the place.

• India Gate – it is a proudly standing structure, which is also the central landmark of the city. It is a major attraction of the city and is a must visit. The structure is a monument built in the memories of the brave Indian soldiers who died in World War 1. The place also has the eternal burning flame called Amar Jawan Jyoti which is a tribute to all the fallen soldiers.

• Raj Ghat – it is a must visit place in Delhi as it is the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, built at the site of his cremation. This is a very beautiful quite place and also a prime place in the city. Many people from the whole nation visit this place and pay their regards to the father of the nation. The place also includes a museum celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s life and has some rare photographs of him.

• Lotus Temple – it is located in the Kakaji area, South Delhi and is most famous for its architecture and surrounding area. It is shaped like a lotus with 27 petals and is an astoundingly beautiful structure made up of concrete. Inside it is a large hall, where people come and pray; besides this there is very little to see inside the temple. It is quite certain that one will get a huge crowd in this place. However, it is also interestingly surprising that how quite is the temple from within.

• Akshardham - it is a large Hindu temple complex located on the banks of Yamuna River and on close proximity of Common Wealth Games village. It is one of the biggest Hindu temple complexes in India, and is built according to Vastu shastra and Pancharata shastra. It attracts nearly 70 percent of the tourists that visit the city and is a major tourist places to visit in Delhi. Besides the large temple crafted beautifully of stone, at the centre of the complex, the complex also features a musical fountain, large beautiful gardens, and exhibitions of the life of Swaminarayan including an IMAX feature on his early life.
