Deep Clean a Couch- Impossible Made Possible

Is there a couch that doesn’t need cleaning? We think not. After we spend hours on it, the
couch ends up with more dirt than we can ever imagine. From body oils and sweat
to cooking odor, food crumbs, and mud, there is very little that doesn’t stick
to the couch.
If you
have pets or kids in the house, let’s say that the damage multiples tenfold.
Animal hair, paints, powders, crayons, and whatnot can be found in and around
the couch. Upholstery cleaning is not for the weak-hearted is a saying. That’s
because it takes time, energy, effort, and patience to get rid of all the dirt
that is hiding in the cracks and spaces of the couch.
But,
cleaning the couch is not an impossible task either. Yes, you can always call
the professionals for upholstery cleaning in Temecula and let the pros
take over the job. In fact, there are many companies that provide expert
upholstery cleaning services. Still, it doesn’t mean that we let the couch and
chairs get as dirty as possible to finally get them cleaned.
By
following simple steps, we can keep the furniture neat and clean, as much as
possible at home. Regular cleaning will not just make the couch look good but
will also increase the lifespan of the couch. Isn’t that a double advantage?
Take some time out of your busy schedule and plan a regular cleaning session.
Start By
Reading the Label
One thing
many of us do not consider is the instructions on the label. The upholstery can
be made of any material, ranging from fabric to rexine. Each material needs to
be handled differently. The labels have tags to explain the use of cleaning
agents. Make note of these in a place you will remember. Refer to the notes
before you start cleaning.

Starting
the Cleaning Process
Always
start by bushing the dirt, mud/ sand, and food crumbs or any other loose
particles that are lying around on the couch. Use a stiff yet soft brush for
the purpose. Upholstery cleaning in Murrieta is a systematic process,
and the results will be so much better if you follow the steps in order.
You can
also vacuum the couch and its surroundings. If the couch can be moved or
tilted, vacuum the underside of the couch to get rid of the cobwebs and bugs
hiding in there. Dust away the dry particles which are easy to remove.
Now starts
the tough task of cleaning the stains. It is always better to clean a stain
immediately when it appears. The sooner you clean, the easier it will be to
remove it. But we know that it is not possible at all times. The stains might
have long dried by the time we notice them. In such instances, using a mild
soap and a soft cloth is recommended (if the label says it can be used).
Baking
soda and vinegar are wonderful clean agents. But, they can also ruin the
upholstery if we are not careful. Before using a strong agent like baking soda,
test the corner of the fabric to see how it is reacting to the ingredient.
Sprinkle of it on the couch and let it sit for around 20 minutes. Vacuum the
upholstery using the brush attachment to remove the dirt and baking soda.
If you can
use water to clean the couch, mix a cup of warm water with some vinegar (not
more than ¼ - ½ cup) and mild soap. Spray it onto the couch and wipe away the
stains. Use a soft cloth to wipe the stains.
Remove the
cushion covers and washes them separately if possible. Airing the couch in the
sunlight is a great way to disinfect them. Do it if you can move the couch. Or
simply carry the cushions outside and beat them in the sunlight.
If you
still think this is quite a task, give the pro a call.
