DC power supply And Power Supply Converters

by Ivy Liu assistant
DC power supply is considered to be one which supplies a voltage of a fixed polarity provided to its load. It can be powered from an AC source or from a DC source likewise the power mains. Normally we get the direct current from these power supplies and later it is converted to AC distributing it throughout the house. In the factories you may expect a lot of direct power supplies or extremely high voltage power supplies. They contain a high voltage current.  Some of the DC power supplies use AC main electricity source. These power supplies sometimes contain a transformer to convert input voltage to an AC voltage of higher or lower amplitude. A rectifier is a device to covert the transfer output voltage to a varying DC Voltage; it is passed through an electric filter which in turn converts it into an unregulated DC voltage. Most of it is removed by the filter but can remove all of the AC variations, the remaining variations of voltages are known as ripples.
The electric load's lenience of ripple explains the minimum amount of filtering which should be provided through a power supply. In some scenarios, high ripple is acceptable and hence no filtering is needed. For instance, in some battery charging applications, it is feasible to implement a main powered DC power supply with a transformer and the other side of it to a single rectifier diode, having a resistor in series with an output to stop the charging current. Power supplies are helpful in the various sources. They help convert AC to DC or are used to convert DC to AC voltages. A number of manufacturers are manufacturing these power supplies. Some of the DC power supplies do come with remote control option.
