Creating the Perfect Guest Room

by Dharmendra Chahar SEO Consultant
Often, the guest room is the last room decorated. However, that does mean that the room should not be decorated tastefully. At the day’s end, your guests should enjoy a calm, peaceful room with a homey feel. The perfect guest room satisfies three needs, coziness, comfort and cleanliness.

A good guest room combines hotel elegance with a personal touch.

Determine who your frequent overnight guests will be and the amount of guest space you have before deciding on décor and furnishings.

A guest bedroom should not be overcrowded or cluttered in any way. It should have a light and airy feel. Your guests bedroom should provide everything your guests need and allow them to feel comfortable, while, at the same time, not making them feel like an intruder.

If your guest bedroom is small, there are things you can do to satisfy your needs while making the room seem spacious, buy corner table online. If you only have enough room for a twin bed but have two guests, a trundle bed works marvelously. On the other hand, futons are better for young adults, unless your space is extremely tight.

The color theme in the guest bedroom determines its general air of calmness. According to designers, the most soothing atmospheres are produced by cool shades like greens, purples and blues. However, the room’s style and colors should be consistent with the rest of the house.

If the remainder of the home is decorated in warm, bold colors, try using more subdued shades of these colors in the guest room. For instance, if you have bright reds and yellows in the rest of the house, a softer, paler yellow would be more appropriate for the bedroom. A neutral color scheme with warm accents also works well. Additionally, neutral shades appeal to both women and men.

Varying shades of gray is another option that is becoming increasingly popular, especially with younger couples, 30 or under. If you don’t like true gray, blue-gray or green-gray, coupled with white linens is another option to buy custom wood furniture.

The perfect guest space requires a well-structured room that offers everything a guest would need. People should feel comfortable within that space.

There are several ways to ensure your guest's security and comforts, such as furniture arrangement and lighting. The bed should be put on the wall across from the door, but not right in front of it. Bed linens should be supplied in neutral and restful colors. Select sheets that can be used for any season and add in a comforter in the winter. You should have two comforters on hand, one that’s hypoallergenic and one down comforter. Place a minimum of two pillows on the bed and store two more in the closet. Add a colorful throw to the edge of the bed to complete the look and provide a little added warmth.

Lighting is very important to your guest’s comfort. Lamps should be placed on each side of the bed in case your guest needs to get up in the middle of the night. Read more about wooden furniture online.

Contrary to popular belief, nightstands do not have to match. It is a good idea to choose nightstands with built-in plugs in order to avoid having cords crossing over the floor.

Your guest room should also include a comfortable lounge chair and a desk and chair set. Without these things, the room may seem inhospitable.

Designers agree window treatments that keep the morning sunlight out are essential. There is a vast assortment of ready-made window treatments to choose from. Draperies coupled with blackout panels are one option. The point is to make the room dark.

Everything else is for you to decide. Make the room as fancy or as simple as you wish. No matter what you do, keep in mind that this is your home and your guests. No one knows your family or friends better than you do. Read about online furniture stores.
