Crazy - A Song from the Sixties
Patsy Cline, was already a country music superstar who enjoyed broad crossover appeal before she had a huge hit with “Crazy” in 1962. Willie Nelson wrote the ballad when he was still a struggling songwriter, long before he became a star himself. He first pitched the song to Patsy’s husband, Charlie Dick, and Patsy didn’t really care for the tune. The complex melody turned out to be perfectly suited for her voice, and the song reached #2 on the country charts. “Crazy” became her signature song. Even though many artists, including Willie Nelson himself, have recorded the song, it’s hard to think of “Crazy,” without thinking of Patsy Cline. Patsy
