Couple wed at hotel after a romantic birthday proposal

This week's couple live in Cardiff.
The couple
Franchesca Louise Ali, 49, from Butetown in Cardiff, and Gary Anthony, 61, from Canton, Cardiff.
The venue
The couple got married at St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff Bay on December 27.
How they met
The couple met through a mutual friend, Michelle Smith, who convinced Franchesca that Gary would be perfect for her.
The proposal
Gary proposed to Franchesca on her birthday, August 2.
She said: “I had gone out with friends for lunch and when I returned home there was a bouquet of flowers and an envelope.
“Inside the envelope was a note saying ‘Will you marry me?’
“I have still kept the note and framed it as it was so romantic and is something that I can keep for ever.”
The wedding
Franchesca said: “We had a late afternoon wedding at 4pm. This worked out perfectly as we didn’t have the added stress of a normal wedding, giving us time to relax and get the venue ready.
“The idea for the wedding was to make it more of a party where guests would enjoy themselves from start until finish. After the ceremony we had a champagne reception allowing guests to mingle and enjoy the live music we had.
“The main room was then transformed, having all of our flowers and centre pieces provided by Sunflowers in Cardiff Bay – gorgeous white roses with small fairy lights intertwined between them.
“Our photographer also created gorgeous natural shots of the wedding and of our friends and family.”
The first dance was to My Girl by The Temptations and a buffet followed.
Gary said: “Overall we created an experience that suited our personalities and also catered to our guests perfectly.”
The honeymoon
The couple travelled to Tenerife for their honeymoon on December 31.Read more at:bridesmaid dresses australia
