Copper Bus Bar, Flexible Bus Bar, and Strips Use in Industries

by Eve W. SEO's little space

Copper and items made of the metal is extensively used in the commercial and industrial circles. Cakes, forged billets, hot rolled as well as machined items to the desired dimensions, including some heavy duty equipments are made with the metal. One of the reasons for extensive use of copper is its high temperature and heat absorbing powers and corrosion resistant capabilities.

Copper Bus Bar

Quality Copper Bus Bar is manufactured with at least 99.9% of copper contents commensurate with IS-191 and IS 1897. They come in various sizes and weights like width of 100-650mm with thickness going up to 100 mm. Average weight of the bars are around 500 kg per piece. Areas where Copper Bus Bar is normally used are as follows.

·         Electrical and construction industry.

·         Zinc refineries and processing industry.

·         Arc/Induction furnace manufacturing industry.

·         Industries producing calcium carbide.

·         Ferro alloys units.

·         Steel plants and other related works.

Apart from the static Copper Bus Bar  there is also flexible bus bar that is used for various industries. These flexible bars and connectors consist of multiple stacked strips that consist of riveted as well as welded contact areas. These are flexible because they contain a cross section that can be loaded with the same current and this capability helps use them as flexible expansion connectors. Major use of flexible bus bar is in –

·         Switch gears;

·         Transformers; and

·         Generators.

Apart from the bus bars copper strips are also used extensively in various electrical installations and equipments like the electrical conductors, switch terminals, and hardware that are incorporated in the electrical circuits and contacts.
