Contextual links are just links built into the body of the website and are most likely going to be in the form of text. These text links are called the anchor text. People will naturally want to click on these links if they are creative and informative. It is important that these links are related to the content in the website itself.

After the Google Penguin Update the days of placing hundreds and thousands of spam back links into your website are over. You can no longer do this to get a good placement in the Google search engine. Also, doing so will put you in jeopardy of being penalized by Google. When Google's algorithm notices a jump in the amount of links this raises a red flag. So that means you should spend your time creating links that are useful and meaningful and will last over time instead of making tons of them very quickly that will not last.

Google checks out the quality, number, and relevance of the websites that link to yours. If you have dangerous links, comment spam, etc then that will raise a red flag with Google. If you give the search engines what they want, quality links, your site will get the high quality traffic that it needs in return. It only makes sense that if you create creative, interesting content that people will want to link to naturally then you will attract more links. There are several sites that can help you build back links that will benefit your site. The most important thing to remember is to take your time when contextual link building so that you do not get red-flagged by Google.
