1. CompTIA A+

It is the first-level CompTIA certification. Consequently, it acts as a prerequisite for other advanced CompTIA certifications. Reason: It covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking. CompTIA A+ certifications are valid for three years, post which, you are required to apply for CompTIA A+ recertification.

Test Details

CompTIA A+ is divided into two exams:

• CompTIA A+ 220-801

• CompTIA A+ 220-802

Other details of the exams are as follows:

• Number of questions 90 (maximum)

• Type of questions: Multiple choice and performance-based

• Duration of test: 90 minutes

• Recommended experience: Six to 12 months.

2. CompTIA Network+

It validates an individual’s competency in basic system administration, network technologies, RAID levels, installation and configuration, cable types, media and topologies, TCP/IP protocols, management, and security. Typical job roles that require CompTIA Network+ include network administrator, network technician, network installer, help desk technician and IT cable installer.

CompTIA Network+ has raised high in demand primarily because of mass preference shown by companies towards it. Top notch employers like as Dell, HP, Ricoh, Sharp and Xerox have recommended CompTIA Network+ certification for their networking technicians. In fact, it is a prerequisite to join the Apple Consultants Network.

• Number of questions: 100 questions (maximum)

• Type of questions: Multiple choice and performance-based

• Duration of test: 90 minutes

• Recommended experience: CompTIA A+ certification along with 9 months of networking experience.

3. CompTIA Security+

It validates an individual’s competency to work in security-related concepts, including access control, identity management, organizational security, cryptography, systems security and network infrastructure. Special emphasis is given upon cloud computing security measures; BYOD and SCADA.

Typical job roles that require CompTIA Security+ include - Security Engineer, Security Consultant, Network Administrator and IA Technician or Manager.

4. CompTIA Server+

• Recommended Experience: CompTIA A+ certification along with 24 months of IT experience to appear for CompTIA Server+
