No matter how safe is the workplace, there would certainly be some risks involved there and even if there are not, bad luck can strike from anywhere and anytime. In the safest working environments too, accidents can occur and put people’s life at risks. Of course, there are workers compensation rules and regulations that cover most of the injuries caused at workplaces, but the point here is why get injured. These accidents and the injuries coming out as their results can be prevented and also, the information catered here regarding the types of injuries can be very useful. Here in this article, we have covered the most common injuries that could occur because of these workplace accidents.

Back Injury

According to compensation lawyers, the most common injury that occurs during workplace accidents is the back injury and this one is common in the employees working at heights. For those working at heights, it is very common to get unbalanced and fall on the ground from the height resulting into back injury. In the absence of proper protective gear, things can become serious and the results could be serious back and spinal cord injuries. Herniated discs or injuries to the muscles and ligaments are some other outcome of back injuries resulting from falling from the height. Solicitors say that these injuries are really serious because they can also develop over time due to heavy lifting or repetitive movement.

Head Injury

Head injury at work sites is very common and the most common places, where it could occur are the construction sites, industrial units, mines, etc. At these places, falling debris, swinging objects and also, fall from heights are very common things and a head injury could be a result of all these actions. These injuries are very serious and can even become a reason of total paralysis to even, death of the employee, in some cases, it is as small as a mild concussion and then, it could be as traumatic as a severe head injury resulting into paralysis, loss over locomotors and sensory nerves, lost eyesight or even death. Workers compensation laws cover this type of injuries, but the first priority should be to prevent them from occurring and for this, proper helmets and other safety accessories should be promoted.

Eye Injury

Lost of eyesight is another very common type of injury caused at construction sites, mines, industrial units and even in labs, etc. Lots and lots of debris and other dust particles float in the air at these sites. In labs, chemicals are there that can release fumes that impact the eyesight or result into complete loss of vision. In severe situations, eye injuries can lead to partial or full blindness in the affected eye. To prevent staff and employees from these injuries, managers and business heads should continuously promote usage of proper safety goggles. They should also encourage staff members and employees to wear eye protective gear all the time that they spend at the workplace. They should be worn because particles may fly into the eye area and cause physical damage, such as corneal abrasions or burns.
