Coming UP With An APP Idea

It’s not just about ideas; it’s about making ideas happen! The very best startup ideas always have three things common: they are something that founders themselves want, and they can build it, and few others realize are worth doing.

WHAT TYPE OF IDEAS SHOULD BE??

Your ideas should be people concentrated. Always try to make ideas that attract as many people as it can. Hence you should avoid building things that people MIGHT use, build something they need. It means that whenever you are giving an idea, the user scope should be clear in your mind. The good thing with building something that people NEED is that you already have a set of people who will LOVE your product.

EXAMPLE:

A mobile app for “transferring or sharing photos.” It does not sound obviously mistaken. Millions of users want to do sharing. Surely many of these people would like an app through which they can share their photos. Not all of them perhaps.

No the danger of an idea like this is that when you run it by your friends, they don’t say “I would never use this.” They say “yeah, maybe I could see using something like that.” Even when the startup launches, it will sound plausible to a lot of people because they are already using a good media sharing app. So they don’t want to use it themselves, at least not right now, but they could imagine other people wanting it. Sum that reaction across the entire population, and you have zero users.

Following are some of the steps through which you can come up with a good and worthy startup idea.

IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM

Your ideas must correspond to reality. The startup idea that is presented for such a problem that no one has, is nothing but a failure.  So it is important to present something that people really need. You don’t always need to over think for an idea. You just have to look over the problems people have them or you have yourself, because it ensures you that the problem really exists and needed what kind of solution. Always keep an eye out to look for the problems that you can solve.

EXAMPLE:

If someone wants to build a mobile app like “voice to voice translation”, then he must be clear about the problem that “it’s sometimes hard for many of the people to meeting foreigners.”

BUILD AUDIENCE

You should solve a problem, which means there are people who need it. So when you are having a startup idea you should be clear in your mind about some questions, like:

·         Who wants this right now?

·         Who wants this so much that they’ll use it even when it’s a crappy version??

·         Why people want this?

·         How much they want it?

If you have answers to all of these questions then it is a good sign that you know your idea will appeal specific group of people. But if you can’t answer such questions then your idea is probably bad.

EXAMPLE:

When the startup of “voice to voice translator” launches, there must be at least some users who really need this translator – not just people who could see themselves using it one day, but who want it urgently.

LIVE IN THE FUTURE

After clearing your problem statement and your audience now think seriously about the scope of what you want to do. Don’t be in too much hurry. Wait enough for something that you love to create and know very well and are ready to work on it for next 8-10 years. Live in the future, and then build what is missing! If you are not at the leading edge of some rapidly changing field, you should get to one. Because value of an idea lies in the using of it. Make yourself sure that what you really want to do is up to date idea and you are actually ready to go ahead with this idea.

EXAMPLE:

Before building “voice to voice translator” the builder should know the future scope of this app. As our world is technologically progressing very fast so he must make himself sure about the future scope of this app that can be very huge! Because now a day’s technology is connecting the people all over the world so “voice to voice translator” will help to understand each other and will lessen the communication gap between people.

NOW COME UP WITH AN IDEA

As a successful startup will consume at least 3-5 years of your life; a year’s preparation would be a reasonable investment. So if you build startup idea, don’t merely turn on the filter “What’s missing?” also turn off every other filter, particularly “Could this be a big idea?” There are plenty of times to apply that test later. But if you are thinking about that initially, it may not only filter out lots of good ideas, but also cause you to focus on bad ones. Hence after thinking and planning that much now this is the time you are ready to follow the path of your idea and to give people something that they will definitely love! Come up with multiple ideas per day.
