Joseph Pilates pioneered the Pilates techniques through his 1945 book- Return to Life through Contrology. Through his knowledge of martial arts, eastern and western exercise methods, Pilates create a series of 34 exercises that have now come to be known as the Pilates Method. This helps the body in becoming stronger, longer, leaner, and builds core strength.

When combined with WBV or Whole Body Vibration, Pilates can be used to produce a unique technique called Vibro Pilates. A Muscle facilitation of about 98 per cent can be achieved by using Vibro Pilates. This is in contrast to a muscle facilitation of 40-60 per cent that is achieved through Pilates alone.

For those who don’t much about WBV….this is a technique founded by Russian scientists to help their cosmonauts tackle loss of bone density commonly experienced due to zero gravity.

When performing Vibro Pilates, trainers set the vibrational platform at 30Hz low aptitude. Each exercise is performed for 30 seconds. But the heart and the heart never come directly in contact with the platform.

It is very important that the exercises are done in a controlled manner. Reckless and careless practice of exercises on the vibration platform can only cause serious problems. This is the reason why Vibro Pilates must be performed with help from trained and certified professionals. All common Pilates exercises including the hundreds, single leg stretch, crisscross, and corkscrew.
