Coinbase has announced the possible addition of 8 New Digital Assets

Coinbase, one of the leading crypto exchanges in the world, is considering the inclusion of eight new crypto assets on its platform. This list of new assets includes Dash (DASH), Cosmos (ATOM), Decred (DCR), Algorand (ALGO), Harmony (ONE), Matic Network (MATIC), Waves (WAVES), and Ontology (ONT).

In their official announcement , Coinbase stated that it is their goal to extend support to all the assets which meet their pre-determined technical standards as well as comply with the local law.

Coinbase also published a blog post which stated that over time, they expect their global customer base would have access to no less than 90 percent of all the crypto assets that are in market circulation currently. The exchange will be evaluating the potential assets against their Digital Asset Framework wherein they will make assessments based on factors like compliance, security, and whether the project aligns with their mission of building an open financial system.

The blog also clarified that as part of their exploratory process, users might come across public-facing APIs or signs suggesting engineering work being done to add support for these assets possibly.

As the addition of new assets requires thorough compliance and technical review along with potential regulatory approvals in certain jurisdictions, they can’t guarantee when or whether they will be listing these assets on any Coinbase product.

Per the blog, Coinbase will include new assets jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction according to their listing process. The follow-up blog post revealed that since the listing announcement may become frequent, they are expecting to make new asset addition announcements only at or near the launch across one or more of their products.

At present, Coinbase’s non-pro interface supports plenty of coins such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin, Ethereum Classic, USD Coin, Ethereum, XRP, Zcash, Stellar, Basic Attention Token, 0x, and Litecoin.
