Clinics In California

by Mary Hellen Health Experts
Reproductive clinics have come under fire lately in the last year.  People are bringing up the fact that Planned Parenthood may have harvested organs from aborted fetuses and sold their body parts for profit.   But what people are not focusing on is the impact that these clinics have on their communities, and that the impact is a good one.

Many people in the communities where these clinics are located are in low-income areas, where people are not able to afford the pre-natal care that is necessary to bring a child into this world.  Low-income clinics allow these people to have access to the care that they need, and to decide if they want the child.  These are all decisions that should not be made by the government, but should be made by the parents.  They are the ones who are most likely to know if they can afford the child, and what decision should be made about it's health and well-being.

There are many reasons why parents may choose to end a pregnancy: Major disabilities that would inhibit the life of the child, a pregnancy that would harm or kill the mother, and many other medical problems that may occur.  These people have a right to choose what they think would be best for them and their unborn child.  Most families are not financially capable of caring for a child that will need expensive care for the rest of their lives.

By cutting off access to these clinics, one is essentially cutting off potential health care for unborn children, as well as care for the mother.  As stated, many women do not have the financial means for birth control or pre-natal care, and these clinics in low-income areas help to provide that for these people.  Even in high income areas, such as Los Angeles, there are many poverty stricken areas as well where these clinics are desperately needed.
