Another example under this genre would make it clearer for you. The idiom is –PIE IN THE SKY. As usual, you have 4 options – ‘in depth’, ‘illusion’, ‘in brief’, and ‘described’. The correct answer to the question is the second option – ‘illusion’. PIE IN THE SKY means ‘illusion’.
You can better understand its usage via a simple sentence, such as – Your idea is just pie in the sky. It means – your idea is nothing but an illusion. Once you are aware of the meaning of the idiom or phrase, it becomes very easy to score.
One last example from the topic would be very helpful. Consider the idiom – CUT THE MUSTARD. Keep in mind that in an idiom, the cluster of words doesn’t bear the meanings of the individual words.
