What Is Estate Jewelry? A piece of estate jewelry did not necessarily come from the estate of the deceased. The definition on Wikipedia for estate jewelry is as following: estate jewelry is previous owned jewelry, usually acquired from estates of deceased or living, and private entities. And here estate simply means previously owned not a property. Currently, the meaning of estate jewelry has been broadened, by now it’s generally refers to jewelry that is of vintage and/or antique nature.

The possible origin of estate jewelry
In China, the most common estate jewelry may be a jade bracelet, a silver or a gold bangle and is usually passed down from grandmothers to mothers and then to daughters. It’s very rare to see a real estate jewelry circulating on the market for sale. The possible case may be the owner sells or pawns it for seriously lacking of money. Because there is a limited supply and it’s usually irreplaceable, (high-end) estate jewelry is often called the 'caviar of the jewelry business'.

Retro, antique and vintage jewelry
Retro jewelry is under pursuit of a large number of fashion followers. Many online jewelry sites and local shops are holding the banners of retro flavor jewelry product high to attracted lots of retro jewelry junkies. While retro jewelry differs from antique and vintage jewelry in the source as the elements being used are produced to imitate the old thing not really of ages.

Estate jewelry are really very rare and belongs to those one may happen to run across but cannot expect to find when one looks for it. With money tight, retro jewelry with synthetic stones and semi-precious ones such as citrines and aquamarines could be considered as a second to none alternatives. The classic charm bracelet has become a popular form of self-expression. Boldness and big size are the most obvious features of retro jewelry and jewelers often create illusion settings then the stones in the center seem to be much larger than they really are.

Sometimes retro flavor jewelry pieces may be called fake estate jewelry. However fake can be fabulous, and some of fake pieces can be quite expensive and collectible. There were (and are) designers for costume jewelry just as there are designers for the real deal. And the work of the well known designers commands a steep price. I believe the retro style costume jewelry has got rid of the notorious fake name as it has blend the wisdom and sweat of the designer.

The wicked high price set for estate jewelry are mainly own to the strong sense of history and stories. But the collection for priceless estate jewelry is the work of the rich guys not of the fashion suitors. And if we just want to buy some jewelry pieces go for our daily costume, then it’s totally impractical to spend such big sum of money for an heirloom piece pre-owned by other’s ancestors.

My advice for the majority of fashion suitors is letting retro jewelry be your choice. Now talented jewelers can incorporate the designs and historical significance that you love about pieces made from more precious materials-and the most important, without the wicked high price tag. And if you want to make your own retro piece, you need to find some antique bronze, old gold or silver tone pendants and charms to begin.
