Chicago Fire 2015 Recap: Episode 5 – Regarding This Wedding
Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire season 4 starts off with Gabby talking to Chaplain Orlovsky about the emotional pain she has been going through since losing the baby. Boden is in his office having a conversation with Riddle who isn’t happy about Gabby coming back to work and not happy with Boden and the way he runs his house. Riddle tells Boden to put Gabby on modified duty until he can have a face to face with her later on. Gabby gets to the house and Casey tells her that she is being put on modified, meanwhile, they get a call.
The call is to a apartment building fire where a number members of a wedding party are stuck inside and the guys from 51 rush in to try and get them all out. They are able to find all of the people trapped in the building, but their are bars on the windows so they have to wait for the guys to take down the bars. Once that is done, the bride, groom, father of the bride and other members of the wedding party are taken out of the building with only minor issues. The groom was brought to Med with smoke inhalation.
Sylvie and Gabby talked to the bride while she was at the hospital and she was telling them that her parents are flying back home the next day because her father has two jobs and can’t afford to lose one. Boden shuts it down though because of Riddle leaning so hard on 51.
Speaking of Riddle, Gabby goes to speak to him about being cleared for duty. He tells her that he advises her to take additional leave and she tells him that this isn’t fair because he wouldn’t be this concerned about a male firefighter after a medical leave. She threatened to go to his Commissioner and he tells her that it was advised, not an order. She respectfully declines to take the additional leave and tells him she is going to return to her shift and leaves his office.
Gabby gets back to 51 and she is obviously upset about what happened in Riddle’s office and after a visit from the bride and her mother, Boden and Casey go into the locker room to check on her. After Gabby tells them about the nasty conversation between them, Boden decides that he doesn’t care what Riddle says, they are going to do the wedding at the firehouse. The firefighters are planning this wedding for them.
Patterson goes to talk to Boden and tells him that he thinks it is a bad idea to have this wedding at the house because of the issues with Riddle. That’s when ambulance 61 gets a call, a pretty odd call at that. They are met at the scene by CPD and there is a man and woman who are having a kinky affair and he passed out on top of her. They are able to get him to come to and they get him to the hospital.
Sylvie and Chili decide to hit up a funeral home on the way back to the house and they were able to get their hands on flowers that they were going to throw away. Meanwhile, the guys are going to pick up Chaplain Orlovsky from the bar and they get him back to the house and hook him up to an IV to sober him up. Back at the house, the crew is taking all of condolence cards off the flowers they got from the funeral home when Riddle walks in.
Riddle makes his way to Boden’s office where him, Severide and Patterson are waiting to find out if Severide is going to get his rank back. Riddle asks about the flowers in the house and Boden tells him about the couple that lost everything and he wanted to do something nice to help them out. Riddle is not happy about this and then tells Severide he is going to put his leadership skills to a test. He asks him if they should use the house for private events and Severide tells him that it depends on the event. Riddle tells him that he is referring to the wedding and Severide tells him that if it helps someone in someway, that he is all for it. Riddle tells Severide that they will review his reinstatement later down the road and Severide is pissed!
On riddle’s way out of the office, Patterson apologizes to Riddle for the embarrassment of this house and Riddle tells him not to get sucked into this whole and that there might be a battalion chief position opening up. After all this, Boden sends Borrelli to the grocery store for some food platters and a cake when Sylvie and Chili come in to tell Boden that the groom took a turn for the worse. When they get to the hospital, they find out that there was some inflammation, but he should be fine. While talking to the bride, the grooms heart rate monitor goes nuts and they end up having to stabilize his heart rate.
Later, 51 gets a call about a bleacher collapse where a kid is pinned underneath it. While Casey and Severide are trying to get him out, a beam falls and just misses Severide. They are able to get the piece of bleacher off the kid and head back to the house where the bride, groom and their families are there waiting. Sylvie and Patterson are in charge of the music, Sylvie sings while Patterson plays the guitar and as the ceremony starts, the news shows up.
The episode ends with a very beautiful wedding ceremony at 51 for David and Rebecca. After the wedding, Borrelli and Casey are talking about the great work that Borrelli is doing and they toast to Borrelli first fire. Chili comes over to talk to him and she pulls him outside and kisses him. Back inside Molly’s, they see Patterson on the news giving them the “these are out neighbors” when it came to the wedding. Everyone looks back at him and Severide and Boden are not happy with Patterson and his 15 seconds of fame.
