Check out the Ideal SUV for you – the Toyota Harrier

by Masashi S. JDM Enthusiast

The Toyota Harrier was first introduced in December 1997 and was once only available to the Toyopet Store Japanese dealership. It is available in a front-wheel-drive layout with four generations: first generation (1997 – 2003), second-generation (2003 – 2013), 3rd generation (2013 – 2020), and 4th generation (2020 – present). It is equipped with a 2163 cc 5S-FE straight 4 engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. The use of vibration damper and insulation makes the Harrier the quietest car on the road compared to other SUVs.

The Harrier was rebadged as the Lexus RX from 1998 to 2013 with a raptor badge that was placed on the grille. It offers an all-wheel-drive layout with great performance, highlighting high-quality materials and innovative features that were already tried and tested. It also includes straight 4 and V6 engine options that were used in other Toyota models as well as the use of bi-LED headlamps with Adaptive High Beam system, LED fog lamps, vertical daytime running light on the bumper, sequential turn signals, and cornering lamps.

It is also fitted with comfortable leather seats, power windows, power locks, power-adjustable seats, sunroof, multiple airbags, vehicle skid control, anti-lock brakes, multi-information display, rear-seat entertainment system, GPS navigation, and a rearview camera.

Motor and Performance

The Toyota Harrier comes with straight 4 and straight 6 engines attached to a 5 or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Hybrid model was marketed in a single-engine: a 2493 cc straight-4 gasoline engine powered by a Kumiawara electric drive system with a fuel efficiency of 21.8 km/l and an AWD system that can keep safe on loose road surfaces or rough roads such as mud or gravel. The third-generation hybrid versions have DAA-AVU65W Japan model code and offer in the Elegance, Grand, Premium, and Premium Advanced model packages.

Finally

The Toyota Harrier is extremely reliable, fuel-efficient, practical, has low maintenance costs, and is a very silent vehicle without any noise or vibration which makes it an ultimate luxury SUV. You can browse the Toyota Harrier stocklist for more affordable SUVs.
