Located on the south-west coast of Anatolia with the Taurus Mountains on the border, Antalya is a gorgeous Turkish city visited by more than 12 million tourists every year. It was founded somewhere around 150 BC by King Attalus II of Pergamon and came under the rule of many powerful empires in the years that followed. The city was under the rule of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Seljuks, and the Ottomans at different times in the past. Today, it’s more than just a gateway to the Turkish Riviera, as millions of tourists arrive in this Turkish coastal city from different parts of the globe to explore its fabulous offerings.

You can enjoy cheap Antalya holidays if you visit the city during the period between September and December. As the winter months from January to March is cold and rainy, it would be a good idea to avoid visiting the city in this season. Summer months from June to September would be the best time to spend your holiday in this wonderful destination in Turkey. However, you may have to book your package well in advance as this is a peak tourist season.

During your Antalya holidays, you'll get to explore some fascinating attractions. One of them is the old quarters of the city called Kaleici. It is ideal for enjoying a stroll as its cobblestone streets are lined with red-roofed Ottoman mansions. Another interesting place worth visiting is the Antalya Museum, which has some interesting exhibits from the Bronze Age to the Byzantine era. The most famous landmark of this city is the Yivli Minare, which is one of the finest examples of the Seljuk architecture. An ancient Roman theatre called Aspendos is another interesting place you can visit while holidaying in this Turkish destination.

Some exciting outdoor activities also await you during your Antalya holidays. With a visit to the Koprulu Canyon, you can indulge in white water rafting and zip-lining on the Koprucay River. A cable car ride to the Tahtali Mountain would give you the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic views of mountains, pine forests, and the Mediterranean Sea. From Antalya, you can head to the desert region to have loads of fun navigating the bumpy terrain and rugged areas with a quad-biking tour. A jeep safari in the Taurus Mountains would take you through some beautiful landscapes featuring valleys, waterfalls, and rivers.

While you're in Antalya, you can savour the mouth-watering treats from the Turkish cuisine in any of the local restaurants. Among them are the kebabs prepared using beef, mutton, or lamb. Lahmacun is another fantastic dish you can try in this city. It is a kind of flatbread baked in an oven made of stone and includes onion, ground beef, and parsley in its dough.
