Centaurus Cineplex Opening on Public Holidays

Nadeem Mandviwalla states that Centaurus Cineplex’s opening is subjected to the opening of Centaurus Mall. Likewise, if the mall will open then only the cinema would be opened and vice versa. This matter is being quite debatable in Punjab. Although there are some local cinemas, which remain open despite all odds, Centaurus Cinema Islamabad works with an exception.

Centaurus Cineplex is one of the mega Multiplex projects in Islamabad. Undoubtedly, it had defeated all the other local cinemas in gaining popularity amongst common people and giving them best quality entertainment in affordable prices. People of Islamabad and good families now look forward to more projects like Centaurus Cineplex and they believe that management of Centaurus Cineplex will take care of their entertainment needs.

Despite all this, opening of Centaurus Cineplex on public holidays still remains a big question, which is yet debated and not solved. Quite confusingly, Cinema Owners Association is still not able to give their stand on this issue. Like all the others, they too are still debating on the issue of whether to keep cinemas open on public holidays or closed like malls.

There are a lot of Bollywood, Hollywood and Lollywood movies, which are released on public holidays. Likewise, there are public holidays that are only confined to Pakistan while there are others, which are international. In any case, most of the Hollywood movies are released on public holidays because cinemas seem to remain open in west on public holidays as well. It is one of the marketing tactics to ensure that most people come to buy the tickets and watch movies. In this way, turn over gets high as most of the people are free on public holidays to watch movies.

On the contrary, Pakistan has most of the cinemas in malls, for example, Centaurus Cineplex. Like all the other shopping malls, Centaurus Cineplex mall also remains close on public holidays, which has given rise to the question of whether cinemas should remain open or not. It is no denying that even if any of the movies is releasing on public holiday and cinemas are opened for their premier show, it brings a lot of business profit to cinema owners and movie producers. If Centaurus Cineplex is opened on public holidays for new movie releases, especially Pakistani movies than it will be a very lucrative sign for film industry of Pakistan.
