CBD Tinctures: Benefits, Side-Effects and How to Choose the Best Tinctures

by William Woods Blogger
The debate has fumed on for years. Until recently. Cannabis products may have potent health benefits. According to ongoing preliminary research, the cannabis plant could offer an organic solution to pains, anxiety, and depression among other health concerns.

CBD is short for cannabidiol, the most active ingredient of cannabis after Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is also the most common cannabis ingredient—it is responsible for making marijuana smokers hit the “high”.

So, can you expect any CBD tincture health benefits?

CBD tincture benefits

There are several perceived benefits and more research is going into some claims to prove them right or wrong.

    i. CBD will not make you high

Unlike THC, cannabidiol is not psychoactive so it doesn’t cause the user to experience a “high”.

Here’s why:

The variety that's used to make the best CBD tinctures for health benefits does not come from the drug-related marijuana plant. CBD tinctures are made from strands of hemp plants.

ii. A CBD tincture is easy and convenient to use

You can add it to your food, nutritious oils, toothpaste, and be fortified with complementary ingredients such as orange and olive oil—which can help improve taste for new CBD users.

iii. Tinctures tend to offer pure CBD

There are several methods of producing quality CBD tinctures, including using nutritious oils and vegetable glycerin. So far using 60-70% (high-proof grain) alcohol has shown to produce the most potent CBD tinctures.

iv. CBD is safe for use

The World Health Organization (WHO) has given CBD a clean bill of health, declaring it safe for use. That’s not to say you shouldn’t exercise due diligence when buying CBD tinctures wholesale or otherwise.

With CBD trending in recent months, there are bound to be a lot of fakes in the market today.

    v. CBD health benefits

Several studies on lab rats suggested CBD may be used as a sciatic nerve pain reliever, an anti-inflammation agent, and antidepressant. The anti-inflammation properties could help improve the chances of alleviating or curbing tumor and acne occurrences.

A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests cannabidiol could be used to reduce Dravet Syndrome seizures by up to 38.9%.
Since the field is relatively new, more researching is still ongoing, though.

Are there any side-effects to using CBD tinctures?

Peter Grinspoon, MD is a contributing editor at the Harvard Health Publisher of the Harvard Medical School. He says a lot of CBD research has only been done on mice. Not humans.

So, there’s a need to conduct human trials in the future to fully understand the effects of CBD use in the human body—especially to find out if it has adverse effects on the body when taken with other forms of medication.

But a collection of CBD tincture user feedback has pointed out to some CBD side-effects you may want to be aware of in advance.

Using CBD may cause:

    • Anxiety and depression tendencies
    • Fatigue
    • Psychosis
    • Irritability
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Changes to your appetite
    • Changes in body weight
    • Dry mouth
    • Diarrhea

Note that while CBD may cause these side-effects in a person, it can help another person gain calm, reduce insomnia symptoms, and potentially counter the psychoactive effects of THC in marijuana.

The best way to avoid adverse CBD side-effects is by buying only organic, high-quality CBD tinctures in legitimate stores online or off. The FDA has previously reported an influx of low-quality CBD products in the market.

So whether you want to buy CBD tinctures wholesale or otherwise, keep yourself safe by buying original.
