CAT 2012: Notification and Syllabus

The number of students applying for CAT every year is increasing as the importance and significance of studying in IIMs has become much clearer to them. No doubt, CAT is the oldest and the most difficult management entrance exams within the country. More than 2 lakhs aspirants prepare to take admission into the prestigious IIMs and other top B-schools in India. The pattern and exam syllabus of CAT is unknown as it keeps changing year by year which makes it even more difficult for the students to crack the exam. The announcements on CAT 2012 have been made.

If you are looking forward to MBA 2012 in IIM can now apply for the cat 2012 but make sure that they known the selection process followed by various IIMs as every iim has its own selection and admission process which begins with cat. As far as cat 2012 notification on eligibility is concerned, the candidate must hold a bachelors degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or stage legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of the UGC act, 1956. The criterion for SC, ST and disabled persons is 45%. As per the seat reservation, the government of India has announced 15% of the seats for scheduled cast (SC) and 7 ½ for scheduled tribe (ST) whereas 27 % of the seats are reserved for other backward classes belonging to non-creamy layer (NC-OBC).

As the exam pattern keeps changing every year, preparing for a new syllabus every year is the most challenging tasks in its own way. Well, the pattern of the exam is divided into two categories namely quantitative ability & data interpretation and verbal ability & logical reasoning where each section is divided into 30 questions with 70 minutes of time duration. The CAT 2012 syllabus for English, quantitative ability, data interpretation & logical reasoning and GK/GA/BA is available online. Students are advised to know the correct 2012 cat syllabus and take a look at the previous year cat question papers to be informed of the latest exam pattern and marking schemes.
