Canada Immigration Has Become Easier Than Ever Before
Countries like Australia, the United States of America and United Kingdom are limiting the number of immigrants to the country. But, Canada is set to welcome skilled and qualified immigrants from various parts of the world. The Canadian government has taken efforts to improve the process and introduced new immigration programs which efficiently reduce the wait time.
These initiatives have reduced the wait time from 6-7 years to approximately a year. All applications are received at a centralized facility, at the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) at Nova Scotia, and the visa processing workload is sent overseas, these two initiatives have drastically reduced the overall wait time.
As per the qualifying criteria, you can apply for permanent residency in different visa offices identified by the government. They are as follows:
- You can apply directly to the Canadian immigration visa office, if you have an employment offer in Canada.
- For all temporary foreign workers and international students, who are currently living legally in Canada for a minimum of one year can submit their application to the Canadian immigration visa office in Buffalo, New York.
- All skilled workers qualifying through the new experience requirement under the Federal Skilled Workers program need to send their application to CIO in Nova Scotia.
Moreover, if you have any of the skill mentioned in the Canada’s 38 high-demand occupations like skilled trades, health care and finance, then your application will be processed in priority. The same facility is extended to temporary foreign workers and International students, residing in Canada for more than a year and have an employment offer.
The Canadian government in January 2015, announced a reform to its economic immigration recruitment program which is known as “Express Entry”, earlier known as “Expression of Interest”. In this program, the employers and the government can nominate workers for fast track immigration, if their skill set is in demand. Thus, these highly skilled workers can skip the queue and apply for permanent residency if they have a job in Canada. According to Minister Chris Alexander, the processing time of such applications will be less than six months.
All you need to do is to fill a few forms and submitted it along with some basic documents and processing fees at the CIO. Upon qualifying the CIO will ask to submit the complete application within 120 days to the visa office. If the application is not qualified, the processing fees are refunded.
Thus, the immigration office has made Canadian immigration easier than ever before.
