Cablevision Systems Corporation first quarter FY15 earnings preview

CVC is scheduled to report its 1QFY15 earnings report today before the bells. Analysts expect the company to post 17 cents of earnings per share on $1.60 in revenue for the quarter.


Cablevision Systems is all set to announce its first quarter fiscal year 2015 earnings on Monday April 4.  The analysts expect the company report an earnings of 17 cents per share on $1.60 billion in revenue for the quarter ended on March 31.

The consensus forecast has dropped over the last 3 months from $0.19. For the complete fiscal year 2015 analysts are expecting earnings of $0.85 per share on $6.52 billion of revenue.

Cablevision systems previously announced its quarterly earnings on February 25. The company was able to report 20 cents in earnings per share surpassing Reuters consensus projection if 19 cents. The company also reported $1.63 billion in revenues in line with consensus forecast of $1.63 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2014. During the similar quarter last year the company earned 24 cents per share.

Over the coming year, the analysts covering Cablevision stock have an average stock price target of $18.5.  This price target stems from fifteen research firms that have coverage on the stock. Out of these, the maximum forecast is $24 while the lowest projection stands at $13 over the coming 52 weeks.

Various numbers of analysts have lately weighed in on company’s stocks. Brean Capital analysts upgraded company’s share to Hold from sell rating on Friday April 24 in a research note. Citigroup analysts reiterated its rating of hold and assigned a price target of $20 from previous $!9 on company’s share on Tuesday March 24. Canaccord Genuity analysts restated their hold rating and new price target of $19. Out of 10 equity research analysts, two have given sell rating to the stock, six have issued hold rating while remaining two have rated the stock as buy. The share currently has an average hold rating along with $18.36 price target.

In the previous four quarters, Cablevision system revenue has increased by an average of 4% year over year. The biggest growth was seen in second quarter of fiscal year 2014, when the company witnessed 4% increase in revenue YoY.

Cablevision stock was up 2.05% to $20.39 at market close on Friday May 1. The stock has a 52 week low and high of $19.88 and $20.47, respectively.
