Busting Myths Surrounding Electric Vehicles

by Reena Khanna Marketing Consultant

Since the genesis of the concept of electric vehicles, several manufacturers and companies have come out with their models and variations of e-cycles, e-bikes etc. These electric innovations emerged along with the rise of Artificial Intelligence- AI, and Internet of Things-IoT, and other technological innovations. However, the world is yet to witness a revolution in the field of electric vehicles.

The uncurbed use of fossil fuel transport has increased air and water pollution levels, thus making it unsafe for people to breathe freely. As a result, cities like Delhi have been witnessing the smog season throughout the year. To put a restraint on such terrible conditions, e-bikes and scooters should be introduced all across India. Moreover, the rising petrol prices have already made it difficult for the lower middle class to use fuel-based vehicles. This makes electric vehicles both economical and environmentally friendly.

However, some of us still do not believe in the supremacy of electric vehicles, mainly due to certain myths surrounding them. We are here to bust these random myths to help you switch to a better mode of transportation for your own sake as well as the earth’s sake.

Myth 1: Riding electric bikes is considered illegal in India.

Low-speed vehicles, including e-scooters and bikes, do not fall under India's motor vehicles category. However, an e-scooter has a maximum speed of up to 25 kmph and works on a 250-watt electric motor, making it the safest mode of transport on Indian streets. Moreover, the owner of an e-scooter or bike does not have to register it or get a driver’s license for it. This makes these electric vehicles suitable for students and old people.

Myth 2: It is not possible to take a pillion ride on an e-scooter.

Whether you will be able to take a pillion ride on an e-scooter or not would depend on the power that your vehicle holds. If the e-scooter works on low power, it is advisable not to take much load. However, if you have a powerful e-scooter, then you can easily take a pillion ride.

Myth 3: It is challenging to charge your electric scooter.

No, infact, charging your e-scooter requires only a few steps. All you have to do is remove the battery, connect the e-scooter’s original charger and then connect it to the battery.

Myth 4: All e-bikes and scooters are expensive and cost more than other conventional vehicles.

This is one of the biggest myths surrounding e-vehicles, especially e-scooters. However, contrary to this popular myth, all e-bikes and scooters help save up on fuel prices and thus are more cost-efficient than regular scooters in the long run.

Myth 5: Electric vehicles do not come with a warranty for their parts.

Electric vehicles carry a limited warranty period on their parts. However, the warranty period will be determined by the manufacturer and the company brand. Most companies offer a warranty period only on the batteries of the e-vehicle. In such cases, the warranty period on the batteries will range between a year to 5 years. There may be an option to extend the warranty with some brands, but you need to check with the relevant department.

You can visit the Hero Lectro official website and know the warranty period they offer on their e-vehicles. Additionally, you can also search for the electric bicycle price along with the cost of other vehicles.

Conclusion

The need of the hour is to focus on expanding the field of innovation surrounding e-vehicles and dealing with all ecological concerns. Additionally, people should be made aware of the advantages of switching to e-vehicles. For instance, they should be informed that the comfort while riding an e-bike will increase with high technological interventions. If you switch to an electric scooter, you will be saved from spending loads at the petrol station fueling up your scooter. You can look for the electric cycle price by visiting the official site of Hero Lectro.
