Brief Review on Scope of Rural Management in India
Rural can be considered as another name of India as around 69 percent of the total population resides in the rural part of the country. There is a population spur in the urban areas, however still the rural India hosts much of the population. Almost one third of all the districts in the country contribute to this population. In the urban areas there are lot of developments and there are many industries and companies that have emerged as strong players. These have taken the economy of the country to a next level. Still they contribute to a very small portion of GDP and the urban growth has almost reached to a saturation level. Therefore, in order to grow beyond the saturation point, there is an emergence of Rural Development in India.
In the recent years, nearly a decade, the rural development in India has picked up the pace. Now it’s not only the green fields, the development is taken to a next level. That is the reason there are many Indian multinationals that are entering the business of rural development and marketing. This initiative has given the online option to the farmers to get information on agricultural products, weather conditions and almost removing the middle man and selling the produce online to the retailers.

That is not the only example; a study suggests that there is growth of seventeen percent in the sale of consumer durables and FMCGs in the rural market which is a clear indication of growth of this field in the country. The rural management is taken up seriously and there are companies that are hiring the management professionals in this field at relatively higher packages. The packages range from rupees four lakh to rupees fifteen lakh per annum. This range is taken from the recruitments done in the financial year 2012-13. And the companies like Wipro, Mahindra, ICICI Bank, IFFCO, HCL, ITC, Pfizer, Vodafone, Future Group, etc. are top players in this field. But for getting these packages and companies in hand, one needs to be a pass out from some of the premier colleges in our country which provide specialization in this field.

The Society for Indian Institute of Rural Management is a non-profit, non-government organization and dedicated institution that is engaged in training, research and consultation of rural development in the country. They then established an institution named Institute of Rural Management in the year 1994 affiliated with AICTE to educate people in rural development. Since many batches have passed, the same has contributed to the growth in rural India.
At the same time the growth in rural sector is also made possible through vital rural marketing techniques taught in these institutions. Since inception many batches have been passed and with the passing of each batch the prospects of growth and innovation in rural India are increasing each year.
