Bridal fashion guide: How to find a flattering veil
One of the most impressive scenes of every wedding is the time when the groom lifts the wedding veil. The wedding veil would be the focus of every person on the wedding party. So, it is really important to find a flattering wedding veil. Suitable wedding veil should not only flatter the wedding dress but should also work well with the bridal personality. Here are some ideas on how to find suitable wedding veil for different wedding occasion and wedding dresses.
Types of veil
A visor veil is a short veil that does not extend past the bride’s chin. Each side of a visor veil can be pinned behind the ears. Shoulder length veils traditionally measures around 20 inches in length and are perfect for gowns that have a lot of detailing, such as beading on the lower back, waist, or bust. The elbow length veil is considered the universal length and measures 25 inches. As you guessed it, this veil length extends to your elbow. The fingertip length veil is also universally flattering and is a commonly worn style of veil. It is called ‘fingertip length’ because the length is approximately 36 inches, extending to the bride’s fingertips. The knee length veil is a beautiful option for a bride wearing a fitted gown without a train. It measures approximately 45″ in length and should fall between the knee and mid-calf. Floor length veils should be long enough at 72 inches that they just brush the floor and almost match the length of the bride’s dress. View veil in different lengths at BlackFive.

Proper tiers
Veils can have 1, 2 or 3 tiers and can even have their bottom tiers detachable to turn a long veil for the ceremony into a shorter veil for the reception. The top tier of a 2 or 3 tier veil is known as the blusher and is the layer that can be worn over the face if desired. Single tier veils by definition can only be fully gathered, although your veil consultant can have the designer make it narrow and slim cut so that it suits your requirements. This is because a narrower veil will lay flatter and offer more transparency than a wider, gathering veil.
Proper styles for face shape
Typically, there are eight face shapes: oval, round, oblong, heart, diamond, square, rectangle, and triangle. The first four shapes are soft and curved, while the last four have more angles and corners. When searching for hair and veil styles, a good rule to keep in mind is “opposites attract.” For example, if you have a round face, opt for a veil that falls along the sides of the face, thus working to help narrow it.

Right hairstyle to wear veil
The way you plan to wear your hair on your wedding day will also affect the style of veil you choose. Generally speaking, your hairstyle should compliment your gown. Some veils are designed to be worn high on the head, thus your hairstyle needs to accommodate this. Alternatively, if you are having an up hairstyle, position the veil at the top of your up-do, or under the up-do, depending on the look you prefer.
