Breastfeeding Advice That You Should Follow For Raising A Healthy Child

by Kristen White Blogger
For an infant, nothing can be more nourishing than breast milk. The breastfeeding mothers may have some ups and downs initially. They find it daunting to cope with the stress of feeding their new baby and maintaining the balance of their health as well. The time spent on breastfeeding is the most special moment of bonding between the mother and her child. It is good for the health of babies because breast milk has all the nutrients that they need during the first six months after the birth. Here’s some baby breastfeeding advice to be followed:

What’s in the Breast Milk?

The breast milk is a dynamic fluid and its composition may vary throughout the period of lactation. Naturally, the breast milk is composed of micronutrients and macronutrients.  The macronutrients are the nutrients used for health and energy. They include proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The micronutrients found in this milk are vitamins including A, B2, B1, B12, B6, and D. the iron is not present in high concentrations, but they are sufficient for the healthy growth of your infant.

When Should You Begin Breastfeeding After the Child Birth?

As per baby breastfeeding advice, you should start feeding the baby as soon as they are ready to be fed. Typically, it can be started within one hour after the birth because babies are extremely responsive during this time. Soon after the birth, you should keep your baby on the chest with skin contact to make her feel secure and warm.

Every mother and her baby are different. Therefore, you need to adjust the way your child reacts. Some babies immediately latch on and begin to suckle while others may find it difficult and may need some help. There is no set pattern or method feeding a newborn child. In the first two days, the babies keep in sleeping and they need lesser feeds. They become more active in the next 3-5 days when the mother’s milk changes from colostrum to mature breast milk.

How Often Should the Baby Be Fed?

You can breastfeed your child whenever your child seems to want it. Initially, frequent feeding is a healthy option for both of you. A young infant needs 8-10 feeds in a day. Frequent feeds will increase the supply gradually and this pattern becomes more predictable with time.

How to Position the Child?

If the baby is not attached properly to the breasts, you may feel soreness in the nipples. Hence, you should seek the help of midwives and learn about the proper positioning of the child. Hold the baby close to your body with her nose opposite your breast. Support the head with a hand behind their shoulders and mouth should be wide open.

For any other breastfeeding advice, you should talk to an expert or midwife.
