Booming E-Commerce in Pakistan – Market at your fingertips
With the entire hustle
bustle and the fast pace of the world around us, we have no option other than
to keep up with it. It keeps us so busy to keep the pace that we often do not
have time to go out and have some leisure time off, no time to shop. But,
fortunately, for us, we live in 21st century and technology has
advanced a lot. With the arrival of e-commerce and online shopping, we can buy anything from anywhere just by a few
clicks on computers or mobiles. Online shopping has made everything accessible
to everyone who uses internet – a person in some remote area can also order an item
from any international brand via the internet.
Over the past few
years, there has been a tremendous flourish in the e-commerce sector in the
country. Many online stores had been opened, some of them being more successful
than others. The items being sold range from books to Women clothes, to electronics
and jewelry. All the major brands
have their online stores operational and stocked.
The Ever-Expanding Market:
According to Pakistan
Today, Pakistan has around 29 million internet users – an ever-increasing
number, and annually approximately $4 billion revenue is generated through
e-commerce. It is an attractive growing market and has potential to expand even
further in future. It is estimated that in next few years, online shopping will take up to 25% of traditional shopping.
“The investments made by the global firms show their confidence in
the future of e-commerce in this country,” argues Ahmed Jahangir, managing
director of kaymu.pk, one of the fast-growing online marketplaces in
Pakistan. (Dawn News, July 21, 2014,

Electronic Products:
Home appliances and
electronic products are also available online. In Pakistan, Daraz.pk, Kaymu, PakBaazar, Symbios are some of the most
visited e-commerce websites available to users in Pakistan. From the smallest
items like foot massager, we can get a generator to power the whole building on
these websites. There are sales and discounts introduced from time to time,
which gives a boost to the sales and costumers also get a chance to save some
money too.
Modes of Payment:
Many of the online
stores give the costumers options for how they want to pay the bills- cash on
delivery, mobile transfer, or through cards or bank transfer. It facilitates
the costumers to pay the cash on delivery especially ladies find it convenient
because they do not have to go out and about, looking at various shops, rather
they can have whatever they want, and can pay the money at their doorsteps!
Nothing can be as easy as this, maybe the husbands or fathers can answer for
this better!!!
Ending Note:
Online shopping in Pakistan can be
a potentially strong market in the near future, replacing traditional shopping
at large. It has the scope of improvement and betterment in Pakistan. In
countries like China and USA, almost everything is available online, Pakistan can
also learn the trade rules from those countries and the government should also
give incentives to flare up the online shopping more in the country.
