Despite putting someone on the block using iPhone’s inbuilt options does not help much. Thus, here are a few steps you can follow to block someone from reaching you without letting them know.

Blocking someone from an iPhone

You can go with the process of blocking someone from four different applications by following similar steps. However, blocking them from one app will also prevent them from reaching you on any other application.

  1. Phone –In the contact section of your phone, open the contact number you’ve received a call from, which you want to block. Tap the ‘I’ button in front of the contact number. Scroll down and tap on ‘Block this caller.’ Confirm by clicking ‘block contact.’
  2. Facetime -–In the Facetime section of your phone, open the contact number or the E-mail ID you’ve received a call from, which you want to block. Tap the ‘I’ button in front of the contact number. Scroll down and tap on ‘Block this caller.’ Confirm by clicking ‘block contact.’
  3. Text Message – In the Text Message section in your phone, open the message box and tap on the name or number you want to block. Three options will appear from which you have to click on the “i” button. Click on ‘Block this caller’ at the bottom of the page and tap again for confirmation.
  4. Mail – Open the mail from the person you want to block. Tap on the E-mail ID and click ‘Block this Contact.’

If you use G-mail instead of Apple’s mail app, blocking the person from G-mail account won’t stop them from messaging you.

Post-Activities of Blocking Someone

When you’re done blocking someone from Facetime, Messages or the other apps, the messages they send after that will straightaway go to your voicemails in the blocked section without you being notified.

Also, the other person won’t get a hint of it as well.

Blocking someone from the mails will transfer their messages to the trash, leaving them hanging on to the impression that you’re not checking on them.

Viewing your Block List and Unblocking

In case you want to unblock someone from your contacts, open ‘Settings’ from the ‘home bar’ on your iPhone. Go to all the applications separately. It’ll have a section of ‘Blocked Contacts’ or ‘Blocked’ option.

Find the name of the person you want to unblock from the list of blocked contacts and swipe left in front of their name. An ‘Unblock’ option will appear in red, tap on the same.

Blocking Someone from an Android

There are two different ways to block someone on your Android phone that are Manually and Automatically which you’ll learn below.

Blocking Manually

Blocking someone has become easy if you have Android 6.0 or above. You’re just a few steps away from doing the same.

The simplest way to do is by pressing the contact number or name you want to block for a few seconds, tap ‘Block Number.’ But this doesn’t work for all the Android phones. Therefore, the steps to block someone by using another method are:

  • Open the call logs and tap on the three dots on the top of the screen or it reads ‘More’ in some of the phones.
  • Tap on ‘Settings’ from the list of options.
  • Click ‘Call Blocking.’

Blocking Automatically

If you want to put calls on block automatically, ‘Mr. Number’ is the right application for you. It has a lot of other features which you can explore later on.

These applications can auto-block in three ways. To enable these features, the steps are as follows:

  • Download the application.
  • Once the app is launched, open and tap on the ‘Menu’ on the top right corner of the window.
  • Go to ‘Settings.’
  • A window with four options will appear. Click on ‘Call Blocking’ option.
  • There are few automated options like International numbers for which you can turn the slider on to block automatically.
