Bimatoprost (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) is a synthetic prostamide analog with ocular hypotensive action that works by controlling fluid flow inside the eye to maintain normal pressure and is used to treat some kinds of glaucoma and other causes of excessive pressure within the eye. Lowering excessive intraocular pressure can help avoid blindness. Bimatoprost is also used to increase the volume, length, and color of eyelashes in persons who have hypotrichosis, which is a lack of eyelash development.

Bimatoprost is used to treat excessive intraocular pressure caused by glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye conditions (e.g., ocular hypertension). Lowering excessive intraocular pressure can help avoid blindness. This drug works by controlling fluid flow within the eye to keep the pressure regular.

Topical Bimatoprost is used to treat hypotrichosis (lack of hair on the eyelashes) by encouraging the development of longer, thicker, and darker lashes. Topical Bimatoprost belongs to the family of medicines known as prostaglandin analogs. It works by increasing the number of eyelash hairs that grow and the rate at which they grow.
