@BestBuy Lenovo ThinkPad 0A33970 For Sale

by Amber Garvey blog

As many people I'm coming from a long history with Lenovo and their awesome standard docks they've had forever. I was not a big fan of the USB 2 dock but we have a few in my office and they haven't caused me any headaches as an IT guy. This one however.. Once you get the drivers and firmware worked out this thing is pretty nice. I'm an IT guy, so this hasn't been too problematic. Worst install was on an X1 Carbon that I'd put back on Win 7 myself from a Win 8 Factory install and had issues with the USB 3 port. I found that this device actually works over the USB port too, just at a reduced performance. This helped me update the firmware and other things before realizing that the Intel software for USB 3 on the X1 is problematic.

Had one bad from the factory out of 5 so far. Have to update drivers and firmware for it to really work. With a lot of cables plugged into the back, it starts tipping. They did a nice job of side to side stability, but no front to back stability. It doesn't fall over but it definitely tips backwards. If I had to get one for home and wanted surround sound I'd go with the Dynadock. Also, due to the problems I've had in house with this one I'm going to get a Dynadock U3.0 to see if it works any better. Not user friendly. This is a freaking dock. It NEEDS to be user friendly. If I get frustrated at times after doing IT work for 13 years then I feel really sorry for home users who get a bad one or are having driver issues.
