     Quitting smoking is not such an easy job.However, the Dangerous health hazards caused by the intake of this substances is alarming. Research has shown that many smokers are ignorant of the dangers posed to their health by smoking, while others are addicted to. Anti--tobacco day and other campaigns have been raised up to Battle this Menace in our Society. However it's unfortunate to say that there has been little or no reduction in the number of smokers in our Society. In the same vein there has been a huge burden of tobacco related diseases worldwide and this is as a result of large consumption of tobacco product. In India the government merely spends about 1.15% of the gross domestic product on situations like health on tobacco consumption and control therefore attempt to reduce or perhaps eliminate the effect of tobacco has been relatively abortive similarly looking at some of the anti-tobacco legislation such as the Cigarette Act, which was initially approved in 1975, the main theme of the Act was a compulsory warning that must be included in any smoking advertisement and on any cigarette packets that "cigarette smoking is injurious  to health" a saying by the World Health Organisation. However, the legislation excluded Largely the use of tobacco for non-smoking purposes which is very common in many Society.Smoking has a lot of immediate and also long term effects such as lung cancer,  throat cancer, Inadequate flow of oxygen in the body, dizziness, coughing, abdominal cramp, reduction of appetite,and many more. In lieu of the many advancements made in order to stop the smoking of cigarette, many medications have been produced, e-cigarettes have been used as a substitute, behavioral therapy also have been used, and the use of nicotine replacement therapy has been brought into place. We have a lot of NRT methods such as the use of nicotine gum, Iozenges,  Nasal spray and inhalers. 


     However, nicotine patch 7mg, 14mg, 21mg  will be discussed in this context. Nicotine patch is a very effective way of curing smoking and it is similar to bandage.  It is used on the skin it gives a slow ( compared to other NRT methods)  and steady flow of nicotine into the bloodstream of the body. This gradually takes away the urge of smoking and its aim is to make one nicotine free. it's transdermal in nature and it's used once in a day. It helps in the smoking cessation process and it's medically approved and should be placed on the dry part of the skin the use of nicotine patches should not be combined with smoking as it is harmful and could lead to overdose of nicotine.

•  Apart from helping to reduce smoking cessation, It relieves a smoker from the urge to snack, mood mood, irritability craving for cigarette, and  many more inconveniences that could be cause.


•  More so it can be used alongside Other Drugs since it is a patch.


 However, it also has various side effects such as 


•  Change in sleep pattern that could occur for some people who are prone to some forms of sleeping disturbances.


•  There could be also be redness of skin or itching on the areas where the patches are applied. 


•  Some other effects are  increase in Heartbeat and headache
