Vipul K. Rawal, who handled the story plot and the dialogue, has made a contemporary story. When a movie has Akshay Kumar as a hero, that means the scenario has to be thrilled which would make the audiences ‘at the end of the seat’. This did not exist in Rustom. The manuscript was not just slowing down the plot, but also just at the average. This is the first time for Akshay Kumar to play as a NAVAL officer. He is a very flexible actor, and he plays his role perfectly in this movie and really loyal with his character. His act also supported with Ileana D’Cruz as his wife. Esha Gupta, on the other side, plays a good role as a revenge woman. Arjan Bajwa, although he has played a small role, but he is very effective. The other actors like Kumud Mishra (role as a newspaper editor), Sachin Khedekar (as a Public Prosecutor of Lakshman Khangani), Usha Nadkarni (as a servant), and Pawan Malhotra (as the Inspector Lobo) also played their role goodly and support the film together.
