The Study elaborates on explaining best calculators from different categories such as financial, middle school, high school, college, and virtual. To know more about different types of calculators, please visit The Strategy Watch.

Financial: The default calculator for pretty much any electronic device. I would get a TI-30 IIS because it can’t handle calculus, but it should get you through your life unless math is a hobby.

Middle School: I would get a TI-30 IIS only because a TI-84 Plus does all kinds of math that is usually too hard for you. I think that if you are in eigth grade and are in an advanced math course, and are studying calculus on your own time, that you should read the answers below. If you are not, still read the answers below :P

High school: Depends on your math course. I would use a TI-84 Plus because it can do basic calculus (although pretty poorly), as well as some algebra. It can also graph functions. If you are doing higher level calculus, still get a TI-84 Plus or a TI-Nspire CX because those are permitted on an ACT. I like the TI-84 Plus because it is different than the TI-Nspire CX, as well as is more efficient with a little practice.

College: I would use and I do use a TI-Nspire CX CAS for anything calculus and above. It is a great calculator that can do infinite sums, integrals, differentials, graphs, and much more! It can even play simple games! I currently use it for my algebra 2 course, although it might not be suitable for someone that doesn’t take a calculus course.

Virtual: Just get TI student software and a TI-Nspire CX CAS. It is exactly like the calculator in real live, except virtually, and you don’t need to have it on you to do stuff. Otherwise, I would go with Wolfram Alpha if you have internet connection >:D

Overall: I would get a TI-Nspire CX CAS and a TI-84 Plus just because the TI-Nspire CX CAS isn’t permitted on the ACT, as well as certain math tests. Also, your documents could get confusing if you use both the TI-Nspire CX as well as the TI-Nspire CX CAS versions.
