Best Boxing Gloves for Beginners

by RDX Sports RDX the fighters choice

Boxing gloves are the basic requirement if you are interested in sport relating to boxing. Training gloves are quite different from fighting gloves. There may be a number of questions in your mind while you consider the possible options. Final decision depends on your needs. Whether you are training for fitness or want to make a career, you have to invest some money in your first pair.

You can buy your first pair of fake leather or vinyl. Vinyl gloves are cheap and easy to clean. These are good for kids and beginners during their training. Fake leather gloves are not suitable for heavy training and are likely to wear & tear. You can use them in kickboxing and martial arts. If you have enough budget, then buy leather gloves. As leather is more durable, reliable and breathable material than vinyl. Check padding material used when you are choosing your gloves. Manufacturing companies are using three types of material i.e. horsehair, cotton and PVC foam. Padding material should be self-healing so that it remains intact and provide protection.

When you start training, for first few weeks you only need training gloves. After selecting material, next decisive factors are size and weight. For training period you will need a pair with weight ranging from 12oz to 20oz. 12oz weight is suitable if your weight is less than 120lbs and 20oz for heavyweights. Mostly boxers use 16oz weight for training and sparring. Classical bag gloves are not recommended by experts as they have thin padding, no wrist support and lower weight. Modern bag gloves are designed with maximum protection to your hand. However, these are not good for sparring. You will find gloves in small, medium and large sizes. These three sizes are available in each weight option.

Hook & loop gloves are good for beginners as these are easy to use. You can put them on yourself. Although, lace-up gloves are more secure than the hook & loop ones but you will need someone to tie their laces. Always try few models before making any decisions. First put inner gloves or hand wraps and then choose slightly tighter gloves as they will stretch with regular use. Loose gloves increase risk of injury and tighter gloves can affect blood circulation.

You can buy a perfect pair by keeping in mind your personal needs and above given tips.
